So I'm rewatching the first season of Voyager...

... for the first time in 13 years... and it's crap. I don't remember it being this bad in 1995.

It reminds me of the first season of TNG, none of the characters fuse well, the acting is poor, the stories are poor. I know, I know - it's onlyseason one and will get better. DS9 seems to be the only series that had compelling, well acted, written and produced episodes from beginning to end.

I had forgot how hot Jennifer Lien and Roxann Dawson were back then though!
 
I had to google Roxann Dawson to see who she was...and I couldn't figure it out still. hahaha. She looks a whole lot better without the Klingon skull.

It always made me lol when I looked at her, being a Puerto Rican Klingon and all. (lololol)
 
I just watched the entire Voyager series (7 seasons) for the first time in the past year or so. What's I found amusing was that by the middle of it, in every attack/action sequence, I could beat the characters to their lines. "Red alert, shields up, battlestations, brace for impact, shields at 67%, hull breach on deck 10, primary power down, switch to auxiliary, warp core breach, etc.".

I still love the series though and glad I watched it for the first time on DVD. I'm now on book two of the post-series story, about a borg virus on earth.

I saw the entire series of TNG and while different, still liked it.

Never watched DS9, might have to look into that.

 
I remember the show getting low ratings although I always found it entertaining. Once they added the 24/7 TnA (7of9) everyone was watching again!
 
My girlfriend made me watch all of the Voyager seasons about 2 years ago. After the first few episodes I remember thinking, "Ugh... this is going to be a long month." The first season was junk. Luckily, I really got into it after that and I'm glad I watched them.
 
Aside from looks, i really didn't enjoy Seven of Nine's character. She was such a overpowering thing, solving everything with the nanoprobes.
 
It seems that the original series, TNG, Voyager and Enterprise all had rough beginnings. I never could get into DS9, so I have no opinion on that.

i've watched tng, voyager, and am finishing up ds9 right now. though all started pretty lame, they all ended up pretty decent in their own way.

i agree with whoever said sisko's acting is frickin atrocious though. sounds like he's gasping for air whenever he has a little monologue.
 
the first few seasons of voyager did suck... however from the mid point of season4 till the end it actually got better as the stroyline finally developed into "were actually getting somewhere" about getting home.
 
All the captains so far generally have an over-dramatic style. That is why they are the captain. It's a Trek tradition.
 
i couldn't stand voyager's cast or writing, but most of all how they pussyfied the borg. how can some crappy intrepid class ship survive so many encounters with them? BS

Ya... it gets a lot better after 7 of 9 comes aboard. Janeway is less annoying then and makes fewer retarded decisions (come on? help the Borg when you finally have someone who can smack 'em down?).

I think you'll find that a lot of long running series noticeably worse first seasons. Friends, stargate etc...
