hmm, what residency program are you doing?
isn't intern year a bitch so far for you? I kinda miss sleep. At least i'm going to enjoy the weekend since its my first day off in 12 days.

OB/Gyn... intern year isn't too bad, I have 2 weekends off in August to look forward to... Besides, I've only worked 252.5 hours since July first so I can't complain 🙂

hehe this reminds me of scrubs...

Stupid question: Why do they work interns like that? It seems like you would retain more information by working a schedule that lets you get some sleep once in a while.

Because we are "salaried" not hourly, so its cheaper than hiring an adequate amount of staff.... Plus, in many specialties the learning is hands on, so in order to accumulate enough procedures etc you would need to be there for twice as many years if you worked half the hours...

the more cases you see, the more you learn from them. that's why.

If my little mapping company understands the horrible effects of burn out, I'm surprised that the medical establishment is okay with it. Oh well. Thanks for answering my question.

I tend to send her posts that I think she can help with. There don't happen to be many posts where an OB/Gyn is much use, however.

So far she's only been on call on weekends. I believe that will change next month.

I've had to take over this thread because she had to go to sleep; she has to round in 7.5 hours.

Shens. 90% of OT can't get any pussy. That should be right up an OB/Gyn's alley.

Hey Doc. Every time I hold my arm up like this, it hurts.

Well, unless you're holding your arm up into your vagina, its not really my area of expertise 😉

If by my vagina you mean your mom's, then yes.

you can fit your entire arm in that vagina

you can fit your entire arm in that vagina

Must be a big mother to get an echo of text!

And that's exactly the problem. If you can't get it, what's the point in knowing about it? Although, come to think of it, it couldn't exactly hurt, could it...

Congrats! It's amazing at what a difficult journey one must complete to become a doctor in the USA.
My sister and BIL are both MDs.

I am numbed at the yearly cost of malpractice insurance and it's one of the reason my BIL would like to go into another field but it's hard to match an orthopedic surgeon 's yearly salary.

I remember when my sister received her first paycheck from the practice that employ's her, she was shocked at the amount of money take from her check.

Congrats, my brother is going to a 1 year Master's program to help him get into med school.
