So I'm going to buy my brother and sister-in-law some presents...

My brother and sister-in-law were up visiting last week and they mentioned they'd been having some hard times recently moneywise. My brother has been commenting that he'd like to get a new computer, but it'd have to wait until they had more money. They also really liked using my digital camera. So I figured I'd buy em a couple of presents.

I'll probably end up getting em a loaded Dell Inspiron 5100, Olympus C4000 Zoom 4MP digicam with extra mem card/accessories, Wireless router, and a dvd burner with 100 DVD-R discs.

Am I leaving anything out? I don't want to buy all of this and find out I'm forgetting something really obvious... I seem to do that all the time. Any ideas on other things that would go nicely with this stuff?

DVD burner and 100 discs? Score! Nothin helps a person in financial need like an open invitation to piracy!

can you double and ship to me? I'll provide the mailing address and even shell out for shipping.

I'm in hard times too ya know.

;) Sounds like a really nice thing to do man...I think what you have down there is pretty good in itself.

Well I guess the RIAA/MPAA can't use the "we lost another sale because he downloaded something" pitch....since they have NO money.

No, I'm just at a time in my life when I have a few extra bucks and I like to spend it on my family who needs it.

Makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. :)

If you send stuff to complete strangers (aka ME), it makes you feel even warmer and fuzzier

Yeah, I wish I could afford to do that for my family. In a few years maybe. :)

Nah, my bro introduced me to computers about 10 years ago... he knows quite a bit and never asks for help. Well... except with networking. :)

These days he's too busy working trying to support his family to stay up on all this computer stuff. It's really tough for them right now... I figured this might just brighten his day.

Anyway, thanks guys!

Finally tally is:

Dell Inspiron 5100
Netgear 802.11b/g wireless router
Olympus C-4000 Zoom 4MP digicam with accessories
Epson 820 Photo printer with 40 4x6 sheets and 200 sheets of high gloss photo paper
Pioneer 4x DVD-R with 100 2x DVD-R discs

That should fit nicely.

Not yet... they are trying though. I'll buy gifts when the rug rat is old enough to use them. Uncles are supposed to spoil their nephews/nieces, right?

not when you have 15 of them. :(

But yeah...just wondering...didn't want you to leave out stuff for them (if they had them)

Talk to Dell and get their recommendations.

BTW, this is really good thing you are doing!
