take the stats, you have 50% chance end up in divorce.

so a 50% chance we won't.

i didn't ask for your opinion if i should do it or not

posting it on a public forum and not expecting opinions...that's like getting married at a super young age and expecting it to work!

pwned

Suggested dates:
Super bowl sunday
Last game of the World Series

Suggested methods:
create a powerpoint presentation (very well-received in ATOT)
send her a text message

Most likely questions from ATOT:
Can you support her at 21? Job? House?
Got any more pics of her?

Well $1000 is not going to get you far in getting a diamond engagement ring.... good luck with that.

I would do it when you are comfortable with it. I would also consider waiting a bit longer so that you can buy her the ring you want her to have for the rest of her life. Hey, yur gonna be seeing that ring for that length of time, so you should be happy with it too.

I just proposed less than 2 weeks ago and was successful in surprising the shiyat out of her. Good times 😉.

First, I would try and find out what her ring 'requirements' are. If she's expecting a 1.5 carat ring, you're in trouble. Have you talked marrage at all with her yet??

If you're really serious, check out diamondtalk.com

You guys crack me up. Especially "more pics" ROLFMFAO!

But back to the OP... I'm with the crowd who think that 21 is too young, but hey, it's your life dude, and not mine to judge.

But as for practical advice, don't believe the hype. "Around" holidays is actually good, IMO. I proposed the day before TG and worked out well for showing off to family, etc. right away. Ring for under $1K? Not much diamond-wise, I'm sorry to say. It all depends on the girl, if she's the kind who wants something to show her friends and co-workers for the rest of her life or not. I took forever and a half to first save the dough for a nice ring, then to find the main rock, then to design the right ring, and finally propose. Just because the holidays are around the corner is no reason to hurry; keep that in mind. Anyhow, for diamonds, learn about the infamous "Four C's" and then shop.

Edit: nice pic, BTW.

Who is the world SENDS A FREAKING TEXT MESSAGE TO ASK TO MARRY A PERSON.

That is the most ridiculous thing I've heard.

"Hey babe, will you marry me? Lets discuss more after 5, got work. lates"

there is no way im getting married before I graduate
or engaged.

well...either that or ill fall madly in love with someone

whichever happens first....

meh, whatever

When should you do it?

In about 50 years. Don't do it. You will regret it. Ask someone who's been married for over 10 years.

How old are you dude?

Thats what i thought too.
my husband was still in college. He was a senior, mind you, but still in school.
i was not expecting a proposal until he graduated. He surprised me with it when i was 20 and he was 21. We had a nice engagement (about 1.5 years, but it took that long to plan) and finally got married when we were 22 and 23.

I would not have done it any differently.

OP, if you feel you both are ready to make the biggest commitment in your lives (short of kids) then i say go for it!

cz? um, no.

but if you're 21...

1000 dollars for a ring won't get you far, if you're looking for a quality ring. but you can get plenty of cloudy, marked up and yellow rings for that price.

That's assuming he's going for a diamond as the centerpiece. Alternate options that meet the $1k budget include: choosing a different (cheaper) center stone that isn't a diamond, or going with diamond alternatives (mossanite for example).
