Looks like an excellent deal...my problem is...I BELIEVE that the motherboard ONLY supports ddr2/pci xpress/sata....so that means I would have to do a COMPLETE overhaul and buy all new parts. The gfx card isn't a problem as I have an x800 xt pe sitting here that I grabbed for $320 CAN, but I"m wondering.....will the board support ddr1 and ide or do I have no choice but to buy new ram/hdd aswell?

you wouldn't have to be a complete overhaul.. but almost. 915 still supports regular pci, so the ide controller will be on that.. you will have ot get new memory though. 9x5 only supports ddr2 memory.

i dont know the currency exchange rate from america to canada.. so i cant comment on the price. however, if it's really cheap relative to other stuff.. it's because the ram is going to cost you a lot. right now, only ddr2400 is supported.. so you'll get worse performance out of the memory than you would with ddr1. but more importantly.. ddr2 will cost double that of ddr1 for the same amount of space.

oh yea, and intel boards suck. if you want intel, go with asus or something.. they got around the oc lock.

what is the EPP program?

What you wanted know:

The motherboard comes with one IDE channel (ATA100) so if you have one hard drive and one cd drive you'll be ok....but really you'll want a SATA HD at some point. I think there are some preformance implications of using a cdrom and HDD on the same IDE channel...but i've just heard that, I dont know if its BS or not.

The only video card that will work is a PCI express one. You have that handled though.

You must have DDR2 for that MB. DDR1 will not fit, or work (for that matter)

I think you could buy a device akin to the Abit Serillel on EBAY to help ease the transition (converts PATA drives to a SATA interface)

damn that sux about the memory
I guess I'll just trade it in for the 3500+ and the Abit K8V and get a lil cash too
