Apparently the mods missed a few when the change of culture happened.

But yes, that seems normal for the MDX.

QFT. I was confused when the 4th post railed the OP about being a Japanese fanboy when there was nothing to indicate that he was one.

I agree with his laughter. Most of the jap. suv's around here are driven buy asains. Heck Toyota was going to start producing Lexus in japan. Anyone here anymore on this?

Also, check with MAME and see if he spotted a lot of suv's driving around japan.

Asians here are considered Asian-Americans. They live by American lifestyle. I'm Asian and if i were to go to asia, they would consider me American. Stop being so ignorant.

That would explain why you're partial to Japanese vehicles.
WTF ? Do you know how many Chinese people were ruthlessly slaughtered by the Japanese ? Yet so many "asians" are still driving Japanese vehicles. Think it has something to do with quality and not because we're simply partial to asians (especially Japanese).

Get a brain, moran.

BTW, I noticed the "fanboy" talk in this thread was initiated by an obvious domestic fanboy. Why does this always happen ?

just because you drive something from over there doesn't mean it will last to 200k miles, go 0-60 in 3 seconds, and get 50 mpg.

QFFT.

why are you guys sayin "Amen!" "QFT!" etc. for? I never really had an SUV car. I came from driving a 4 cylinder Integra GSR to a SUV and this is all new to me. Are you guys saying Domestic luxury SUV's get better gas mileage, lasts 200k miles, and does a faster 0-60 time then a MDX? If so then point me towards that car to trade in.

no, we are saying "You bought an SUV, what the fvck kind of mileage did you EXPECT to get?"

here let me say it like this, a taller car in general doesn't do as well as a shorter car, a heavier car doesn't do as well as a lighter car, a bigger engine car doesn't do as well as a smaller engine car (this one isn't the best rule to go by) and 4wd vehicles don't do as well on gas as their 2wd counterparts.

basically, you went to a taller, heavier, bigger engine car with 4 wd. WTF did you expect?

I wouldn't pay too much attention to the fuel economy reported on the dash. Those reports tend to be optimistic. :D

Mercedes had made the M500 for quite some time, not to mention the Unimog. VW had the Thing. Porche had an SUV concept back in the '80s, as did Lamboghini (okay, they're italian). Neither made it to production.

Yes I've seen TV specials on those cars. And even then they said it didnt go into production because it wasnt popular to drive these impractical cars.
Just a nitpick, but Lamborghini most certainly DID put the LM002 into production. I actually spotted a red one in person on the Garden State Parkway in NJ.

And since we're on the topic of fuel economy, don't get your hopes up for this 76-gallon(!) V12 beast :p

damn that's one ugly SUV

And you guys have to remember that these "Japanese" Sport Utility Vehicles are targeted to American car drivers. These cars are not popular in Japan. They're made, designed, and targeted for the AMERICAN people. So technically its more of an AMERICA car.

BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

I like your argument

tell me you do not agree that if it wasnt for the american SUV craze these japanese car manufacturers would'nt even start puting out SUV's. Even german manufacturers started doing it after the US SUV craze. When did BMW, VW, Merc, Porsche ever in history made an SUV's and what percentage of them drive these cars, Its not for them.

Lamborghini did have a production SUV.

My dad's been averaging 22mpg all-around in his Pilot. Seems to me that the MDX shouldn't be that far off...

That is pretty good. You could have a 5.4l Ford Expedition. Ours gets 13mpg, 17+ on the rural interstate.

There is an american car fanboys vs japanese car fanboys fight going on in the background....

Limit your RPMs when accelerating. Remy's dad probably starts a lot slower at stop lights.

one problem: the mdx isn't an suv, it's a minivan.

Ummm... My father's getting _better_ mileage than Remy. And when did Remy's father come into this anyway?

Furthermore, from a fuel consumption point of view, the most efficient acceleration is at 3/4 throttle because it minimises pumping losses while avoiding the WOT fuel enrichment map

More SUV than most of them. AWD that was second to the BMWs in tech (well, not sure about Subaru's).

I'm Korean and korean people do not like japan and japanese cars or do they even let them sell their cars in korea. You will not see any hondas being driven around in korea. My parents bought this car because they compared this car to other SUV's both domestic and foreign and found this MDX to be the best choice, not because its "asian"

And I suppose to some my original question was pretty stupid. I never owned or driven an SUV and didnt know it gets this much of a bad MPG. Ofcourse I knew it wouldnt get the same mileage as my integra but I just wanted to check if it was actually that much of a difference. In that note, this thread was still an interesting topic that entertained me throughout my workday. Goodbye.

Times have changed. Japanese car companies are allowed to and do sell cars in Korea now.
