Hey,

I have just recently gone to uni and I have to buy my own desktop now I'm gone as the folks wont let me take the one here :'( boooo!

So i play a lot of games mainly FPS (cs/cod/UT/crysis) and Strats (RA3 etc..) So I'm looking to build me a super station! So I'm wondering what you guys think I should go for, I have about £800 excluding a screen which I'm going to buy later in the year, but advice on a screen will also be handy I hear I need to look for a 'gaming' screen. But I'm not quite sure what that means at this moment in time.

Also should i go for a quad core? I'm not sure, I only use my computer to game, watch films and do uni work. So I'm not sure if I need a quad or whether I should get one. I'm quite hardware illiterate, so talk dumb to me lol!

Thanks in advance.

Dual core socket 775 still makes the most sense.

See the General Hardware forum for many threads on what to buy.
