I am was very interested in buying a video card from a local seller. The video card is a ATI AiW 128. Its the PCI version.

He has this video card...

Click ME!

It comes with just the bare card only..

What software *from morpehus* would i need to capture some video files?

And are there any problems with the above video card in win2k? I was planning on running dual monitors too. Can i use that video card in dual monitor mode. i currently have a Geforce 2 mx-200 AGP.

Thanks In Advance..

<< not all duh >>

haha if i didn't tell you the link! you wouldnt be posting right now, woudl you. HeHe...

Of course i know the MAIN server is down, but the backups arent...

I have an ATI All In Wonder 128 (not pro) PCI in a triple monitor setup. Works great, just don't expect to play the latest and greatest games at the highest resolution. Multimedia features work very well, just make sure you can get your bios to recognise the ATI All In Wonder 128 pro PCI as your primary vid card otherwise the multimefia functions will not work.

Don't know about your other questions.

Ah i see, i have a geforce 2 mx that i use as the main video card right...

maybe other people might know..

BuMp!

I don't think you can use it in a dual monitor setup. I have that same card, and it has a single monitor output, but I believe you can use S-Video output as a second monitor, if that's OK with you. Of course, if you are getting the card only, not any of the cables, the card is kinda useless. You need both an output cable and an input cable for full functionality. If it does come with all of that, I think the card is a steal at that price, go for it.

Oh, and for software, I think you need ATI's software, but I'm not 100% on that. I have the software on CD's if you need it.

Excellent, what kind of software does it come with, thats on the CD?

LMK, so i can check the ati website also if i can download it from there...

Their website has the multimedia center, which I'm pretty sure has all the software you need, but the DVD player requires a CD with the DVD player on it, for legal reasons. If you need a CD, I don't have a problem sending you one over the net or snail mail, since you would have a legal right to have it, since you would own a AIW card.

Would have been nice if you would have mentionned that in the first place!

Is it just me or does it bother others out there when people post minimal information and expect maximum accuracy from the good people who take time to try to help.

Sorry, having a BAD DAY!

generally, when you use a card for a secondary display device, most of the features will not work. this is probably the case with the AiW. If you have the GeforceMx as the primary, you'll probably only be able to use the Ati card as a 2d display device. You won't be able to use its 3d functions (i know there aren't a lot anyway) and probably the vivo/tv tuner/whatever-it-has functions will also be missing. You can always try though....

For windows 2k and dual monitor w/ two video cards, check out the file "hcl.txt", or something along those lines. It will tell you what cards work as primary cards, and what cards will work as a secondary display device. Hope that helps!

Amgkid's advise is bang on, usually to access the multimedia functions of a card (PCI included) the card has to be set as the primary.

As I said before, with the I have an ATI All In Wonder 128 PCI set up as primary vid card in a triple monitor setup. Works great for the multimedia functions. Does not play the latest and greatest games at the highest resolution but they do run.

If you have the GeforceMx as the secondary, you'll probably only be able to use it as a 2nd display device. You probablly won't be able to use its 3d functions.
