So I'm a European and visited Orlando, FL for 5 days...

I wouldn't want to live their, but Orlando is a great place to spend 1-2 weeks. If you go to Disney World anyway, other wise it would get dull quick.

I don't get it. So this weirdo stayed at disneyland and thinks that's what America is like? That is one seriously retarded piece of eurotrash.

spidey, wake up, that was the joke.

Yeah, but it reminds me of when I lived in Berlin (West Germanay back then, the 'Wall' was still up).

I lived with a woman from there and so met a lot of Germans/Berliners. I used to read up on their history, visit historical/cultural sites and ask them a lot questions about Germany etc.

One day it occured to me that I was the only American around yet they never asked me any questions about the USA etc. So asked them why not?

They told me they already knew everything about the USA because they could watch the TV show "Miami Vice" (it was dubbed into German). I was like, bwuhahaha "wtf"?

You can easily tell when something like this is written by an American because they describe themselves as "European". Americans seem to have this weird general idea of what "European" means, but people from Europ tend to identify with their countrymen, not the countrymen of every country in the extremely diverse continent of Europe.

Just like a particular Kiwi who makes repetitive plug-in comments on the US, an "extremely diverse" nation of 50 states.

I understand that this is a joke etc, but that is a damn good representation of how commercial Orlando is. It's a sea of endless tourist attractions and strip malls.

I hate Disney.. what a waste of space that place is.

I agree about how its just a fake POS where everything is expensive and pretty much pointless.

I have my own personal reasons for hating Disney though.

Were you barred from Disney World? It would be hilarious if you were.

Actually, the only tourist attraction that might be within the Orlando city limits, and I'm not even sure of that, is Universal Studios. Disney is not in Orlando (actually, Disney is Lake Buena Vista, which is its own city), Sea World is not in the city limits, International Drive and the tourist strip is not in Orlando, etc.

I mean, c'mon. Someone from Reno (I'm assuming that's Reno, NV) ragging on Orlando about being commercial? That's rich.

The biggest problem with my last GF is that her family was for some stupid reason obsessed with this shitty empire called Disney.... They went multiple times per year, and my then GF always told me we had to book our trip, etc etc. It was just a disaster arguing about that place with her. Why would 2 people in their 20's want to book a vacation there? (no kids) I was hellbent against it.

I'm glad I'll never have to go now!

Anyone who got this needs to spend more time away from a computer, the Internet and AT.

Anyone who didn't get it needs to stay out of OT.

Cause not all of us like to act like boring, bitter, crotchety old men, who are too mature to have fun at Disney World.

When we went to WDW 4 times in 3 years, people kept saying "wow, you're kids must really love it for you to go so much". Ummm, yeah, it's for the kids, ok, we'll go with that.

The place bored the Hell out of me when I was 12, I can't imagine going now.. although, if I were drunk ...

Because it's fun, great food, great shows, great experience, the completeness of the illusion is endlessly fascinating, etc. Heck my wife and I went last summer just to experience it one last time before our baby was born since it will be a completely different experience with a kid or two. It will be a blast with kid(s) but I will not likely be dining at Artist's Point or Kouzzina for a long time to come.

That said, I gotta scratch my head at the people who seem to only vacation at Disneyworld. I mean if you live within a day's drive and you have season passes, that's one thing to pop over for a long weekend here and there, but to use the precious vacation time and money that you save up for so long to always do the same thing....there's a whole great big world to experience.

My wife and I questioned whether 5 years was even too soon to return to Disney.

But it's an awesome trip for adults without kids.

Funny. It does remind me of a lot of snobby people who travel and then think they know everything about a country. I just met someone recently who is a self-professed "expert" on Costa Rica. He visited for 8 days once and barely left his resort.

god i can't stand fobs and foreigners. they never understand any jokes.

I know this dude at work that went to disneyworld by himself. I asked him what his favorite part was and he said it was snow white. That dude is now in the process to be a woman. I kid you not.
