You should only do those things in response to the business' financial state and the status of the market it services. There need be no greed involved, and both can be a good decision depending on the circumstances. In either case, the wrong decision is the one that hurts the business. A solvent company may provide fewer or more jobs, but a failed company provides no jobs.
