So if UPS comes when you're not home

Even when I leave a signed note, my UPS guy will not leave my package on the doorstep. They come at around 11am when I'm at work.

WTF do you do in this situation. I don't know any of my neighbors well enough to leave the package with them and my apt. complex has no manager.

Good idea - but unfortunately I'm never in the same place two days in a row :-(
 
It's been my experience the past few years that all of the big shippers refuse to leave packages at apartments due to higher risk of theft. It's on the delivery service's hands if they leave it without a signature. Since I've been living in my first home for over a year, they don't think twice about leaving crap under chair on the porch. Hell, one time the UPS guy basically knocked once pretty loudly, and by the time I got to the door about 5 seconds later, he had already crossed the yard and was climbing into his truck....my package shoved between the storm door and the main door.

Well then it sounds like your screwed. Call them up and tell them return to sender - get your refund - and never order something that requires UPS/Fedex/DHL delivery again.

The same thing happens when I'm visiting my mom; by the time I walk across the house and make it to the door, the FedEx woman is already back in her truck and halfway down the street.
 
Suck it up and drive the half hour?
That's what I'll do. Think of it as a mini outing and go to that diner you wanted to go but didn't have a chance until now along the way.

QFT too many people are claiming their packages are being stolen at the door even in gated communities.

I can guarantee most of this is fraud.
 
You might be able to call the distribution center and have them re-route the package to where you're going to be the next day. Even if they agree, good luck on it actually happening.
 
You usually end up just having to go get it at the distro center in these situations. Fed-Ex usually has a note they leave that you can sign and leave out to get them to leave the package the next day (and even default to leaving all packages forever), but I think UPS doesn't do this.
 
I guess I'm lucky that my UPS driver comes around 4:30 - 5:00 right when i'm coming home from work. And if I wasn't at home, I usually find him somewhere on his route and stop him. Not that big of a deal for me.

I also have a container on my front porch so that the delivery drivers can put small packages in it. Works well I guess. Haven't had a problem yet.
