The coffee was too hot. It wasn't drinkable, much less safe to drive with. That was where McD's was at fault. By the way, the settlement the lady got out of it was later reduced to less than what it cost her to pay for court charges.

I agree with ElFenix. McDonalds served the coffee at 180 degrees, too hot for drinking. I believe coffee is meant to be drank at around 140-150. However, they did this because market research showed that the vast majority of customers got their coffee from the drive through, and then took it with them to their work or to their home or wherever. If they didn't serve it at 180, it would become cold before people begain to drink it. Just because the woman's a moron who tried to drive with it between her legs with the top off does not make McDonalds responsible. Now, if she had burned herself drinking it, that's another story, but spilling it because you're a moron should not get you any money.

its safe to drive with if she had put it in a cupholder. it would have been safe had she not been driving and did the intelligent thing, which is pull into a parking space at mcdonald's to do her mixing, then replaced the lid, put the cup in a cup holder, and then gotten on the road. but she didn't. she did something stupid, and got burned (literally).

subway is alot better than mcdonalds, but still not the greatest health-wise. they act like they're super healthy yet their sandwiches have between 1000 and 1500 milligrams of sodium. (your daily intake should be around 3000 or less :Q)

and that's for a 6 inch!

granted sodium is less of a health problem than fat or pure calories, but i just dont see why they need that much sodium. perhaps to make up for lack of real flavor?
