I've been reading up on this Core i7 cpu's and they only support ram rated speeds DDR3-800/1066. I got the i7-950 but I haven't built my pc yet I'm doing more research before I start which will be in a couple of days.
This what I'm putting togeather soon
Core i7-950 3.06GHz Quad-Core
LGA 1366 P6X58D-E Mobo
CORSAIR XMS3 6GB (3 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model TR3X6G1600C8 G
I've read other postings around the net saying that the mobo will only recognize ram speeds up to DDR3-1066. Even intels website says this.
My question is to get 1600 speed I read that you have to enable XMP or manually change the DRAM multiplier. But from what I've read this will disable turbo and maybe a couple other settings too cause the mobo considers this as a overclock, is this true or false ?
