So I went to the McDonalds drive through

And the lady told me it was going to cost $4.80!!! WTF. It went something like this:

Me: I'd like to order a plain quarter pounder. And can you add tomatoes and lettuce only?
McD person: You want the meal?
Me: No, just a plain burger. No condiments just 2 patties of meat, bun, tomoatoes and lettuce
McD person: Oh ok...one second
McD person: *pause*
McD person: That will be $4.80
Me: For one burger?!?!?!
McD person: Yes for the double quarter-pounder
Me: How much is the meal?!?
McD person: I think around $6.30 with taxes
Me: Nevermind then, thanks anyway

Then I drive off. Seriously, $5 for a plain burger...WTF? This was the first time I've visited McDonalds since I forgot to pack my lunch almost to get McOwned in my wallet. What has this world come to!

yup.

i rarely ever visit mcD's cause the burgers give me the shits but next time just grab 2 double cheeseburgers for $2.00

Uhhh... your subtitle says plain DOUBLE Quarter Pounder. Seems about right to me. Some locations may charge extra for Tomato and Lettuce, too. You asking for it "PLAIN" doesn't change the price, but you ADDING the Tom&Let prolly does.

You're gonna get all sorts of flamed.

Never been there I take it?

What did you presume they served?

Sounds like you should have ordered 2 Big & Tastys without cheese and w/o the mayo shit. 2 dollars for pretty much exactly what you wanted, in 2 burger form.

that does sound about right. i'd just ratehr get two double cheeseburgers w/o cheese (I always get funny looks when i order that)

Don't order it plain and then ask for tomato and lettuce, that's not plain.

If he doesn't know what's in it, it's easier than forgetting an ingredient. Although, he could just say, "I want a double quarter pounder with only lettuce and tomato" I also do not think handling "Plain with lettuce and tomato" is a problem. The system should register it as a modified sammich "plain" and then it will be listed as with tomato and lettuce afterward. So the assemblers might look at it kind of odd for a second, but they will understand 😛. Or the cashier can just say, "no pickles, ketchup, mustard or onions"

When I used to work there years ago, this wasn't horribly uncommon. Especially once the DCB went on the dollar menu.

EDIT 2:

You also used to get odd requests like burger in a box... when the person wanted no bun.

Neither the Quarter Pounder nor the Double Quarter Pounder come with lettuce or tomato from what I recall, perhaps they were charging you extra for those?

Yes, it would be extra for lettuce and tomotoes as they're not part of the regular burger.

$4.80 does seem a bit high, but prices vary depending on location. Double cheeseburger for $1 ftw, though.

That's about right. A double Whopper with Cheese is $4.87 with tax here in Illinois.

Food costs are higher, people. I know many of you don't do big grocery runs but MY GAWD!!! What used to cost $80 just 4 years ago now costs 140+

I almost forgot.

I asked the lady how much it would be for the lettuce and tomato cause they were extra and she said $.30 (for both)

So...$4.80 - $.30 = $4.50 for two plain FAILBURGER's

Tomato got you. That's not something they put on quarter pounders. That's like asking to put on bbq sauce from the mcrib, its going to be a hit. If you asked for a quarter pounder plain with just onions it would be different.

Edit: actually they don't put lettuce on there either. Why are you being so fucking difficult? l2order fast food...

Do you really need a DOUBLE quarter pounder anyways? Yowzah...

What he needs or does not need is no concern of yours. Why do you presume to be his judge?

Seems more like the burger was about $4 if you take away tax from $4.80 then the 30 cents.

$4 for a double QPC is about the avg price around the US.

And your flaw in your thinking is that you keep thinking having it "plain" is going to do anything to the standard price. You can ask for a double QPC with nothing but the two patties and it will cost you the same as a regular one.

You really are an idiot not understand all of this since any 3rd grader could show you how stupid you are.
