So I went Paintballing for the first time today...

I must admit, very fun. Me and my 5 friends had matches of 1 on 1 since we only had 2 guns but it was still great. Suprisingly, getting hit does not hit at all that much as I thought it would have. Im waiting to try some Capture the Flag, which i think will be loads of fun. We only had a small place to play, a little range setup by a lot of kids, basically made out of netting and spare wood/doors in the forest. My friend mentioned that the bad thing about it is that it really depends on your gun, not your skill. Just wondering, is this true? I thought I did pretty good with a Tipman A5, though i do not know anything about paintballing. Well just wanted some opinions...

And yeah, the A-5 is a pretty good gun.

how much does a decent paintball gun go for....and how much does it take to got play for a day usuall?

Decent gun will run you about $250, then theres saftey equipment and accessories. If you own your own equipment or borrow someones it'll cost about 50 dollars for a day (25 for 1000 rounds of paint, and 25 for field entrance) then food if you want to eat or whatever. If you rent equipment at the field it'll cost you about 90 dollars.

Tippmann makes some of the most accurate guns on the market. They don't shoot that many balls per second as an Angel or Autococker can but you can shoot people way off in the distance.

From what my friends say and my only experience...No. I have never paintballed before and on the third try, i could hit a doorknob about 8-10 yards away...

$25 for park entrance? Good lawd, that's how much they charge here for entrance, equipment, and a few hundred paintballs. The fields that I've been to charge you something like $5-7 to get in all day, and if you own your equipment then all you need are the paintballs and C02. Renting face shield and gun adds on another $15-20.

Definitely worth it even if you're renting, though.

um, they are reliable, but that's all i'm gonna agree w/ you on. tippman's are entry level guns, basically the lowest of the low that's worth getting. (and no, those pump brass eagle guns at sports authority don't count.) don't buy a gun yet. rent 3 or 4 more times, and see how you like it. if you see yourself taking up paintball as a hobby, get ready to lay down at least $400 for a good setup that performs well and is reliable. and your friend was partially correct. the type of gun you own has a huge impact on gameplay. you won't see any decent players sporting a tippman.

meh they may not hurt right then, but we were playing in my friends back yard one time, and I got pinned down behind some bushes, so I went to shoot and the fire got stuck on auto and wasted all my co2, so I was sol while my gigantic friend (literally, he is 6'11) holds the gun up over his head and shoots down over the bushes nailed me in the arm and left a huge bruise for a few days.

Where I live there aren't a lot of good Paintball Fields, SC Village is probably the best around here and they charge $25 for all day play and $12.50 on Special Holidays like Memorial day. Renting a gun there cost $15 for a cheap gun or $25 for an autococker, Mask cost $5 for rental. I have all my own equipment and it usually cost me about 60 dollars to play. Paint, Entrance Fee, Food & Gas.

I only went once and I thought it hurt like a motherfv(ker.
I was playing outdoors though so the guns are set for higher speed.
And I got shot in the back about 4 times from about 15 ft away.

You haven't been playing for 7 years. If you had, you'd understand that the gun has absoluetly nothing to do with the skill of the player.
I've been playing 6 years. In that time, I've played against local police departments, Trenton AF base and many "sponsored" players.

At one of the ranges I've worked at, the owner had been in business since the orignal Nel-Spot Paintball Marker was produced.
Have you ever seen one? I don't think so. Better question, have you ever seen a 45 year old man take on a whole team using everything from Mags to Cockers? Thats what I thought.

I have a Spyder TL that I picked up from some sale for about $130 a few years ago. I regularly go up against guys with Angels, Mags, whatever and while I certainly can't put out the volume or accuracy that they can I at least hold my own, even against tourney players. The factor that has had the greatest effect on my gameplay is that I have some Army training.

If you are just a casual player.. tippmans are fine.. as are spiders .. I play just rec ball and I've got a mag with upgrades.. the gun cost me about 220$ and I've upgraded about 150 into it. My gun now rips and is totally mechanical so it's easy to fix. Mags also have some of the best customer service in the industry and automags.org is one of the coolest user oriented websites around.

I was saying that the gun isn't the worst gun in the world, not that the gun has to do with the skill of the player.
