um, they are reliable, but that's all i'm gonna agree w/ you on. tippman's are entry level guns, basically the lowest of the low that's worth getting.
How long have you been playing paintball for?
edit: nevermind, " the type of gun you own has a huge impact on gameplay."... that answers it.
i've been playing for 7 years. refereed for 2. i've owned at least 10 guns and shot or worked on 3 times that number - and like i said, you won't find any decent players (let alone tournament players) carrying around a tippman - even as a backup gun.

That's not true. Tippmans can be a good entry-mid level gun with a few upgrades. Many people use Tippmans (of course not tourney players)
ok how's this. a tippman is to a paintball player what a dell is to a computer enthusiast. any better?

Well then how come so many people who are decent-good at paintball use Tippmans?
You haven't been playing for 7 years. If you had, you'd understand that the gun has absoluetly nothing to do with the skill of the player.
I've been playing 6 years. In that time, I've played against local police departments, Trenton AF base and many "sponsored" players.
At one of the ranges I've worked at, the owner had been in business since the orignal Nel-Spot Paintball Marker was produced.
Have you ever seen one? I don't think so. Better question, have you ever seen a 45 year old man take on a whole team using everything from Mags to Cockers? Thats what I thought.
