So I watched three comedies this weekend:

1) Tropic Thunder
2) You Don't Mess with the Zohan
3) Kungfu Panda

Guess which was the funniest......

Kungfu Panda, and it wasn't even close.

Has the age come that our only comic relief in the movie theatre is through animated movies? I can't recall when I watched a good non-animated comedy.......maybe, Austin Powers.....okay, that was funny.

agreed. I thought Panda looked good although I never got around to seeing it

I've seen all 3 - Tropic Thunder was the best for me but Kungfu Panda was surprisingly good as well. Zohan was a waste of money and time, other than seeing Emmanuelle Chriqui on the big screen. 😛

I want to rent a DVD for new years eve to watch with my wife. A comedy would be preferable, as that is about the only type of movie we both enjoy. Now all I need is some suggestions regarding what to rent ... and Ben Stiller / Adam Sandler do not make my list.

I thought KFP was only average. Very predictable and it felt the same as almost all other Pixar films.

Tropic Thunder was only OK (the Jack Black character just ruined it for me).

Have not seen Zohan.

As for other recent comedies Role Models was half-way decent but Forgetting Sarah Marshall was probably my favourite of the ones I have seen so far. I'm very far behind on my comedy watching though.

What? Forgetting Sarah MArshall was so bad that even my gf couldn't watch the whole thing. It seemed liked they really wanted Vince Vaugn to be the main character, but he was smart enough to say, "This movie sucks...even for me".

So I know to not take movie recommendations from you or your girlfriend. 😀

I agree the movie was predictable, but I thought Jack Black made the panda hilarious.

Tropic Thunder was okay, but something was just off with it.

I thought Kung Fu Panda was extremely well done and very funny. After the last two Shrek movies, I didn't have a very good opinion of Dreamworks Animation but I was more than pleasantly surprised.

My wife and I were literally laughing out loud at Tropic Thunder though. It was funnily absurd and Robert Downey Jr was great.

I won't even bother with Zohan.

The guy that stared in it wrote it also.

I thought FSM was funny as hell though.

Kung Fu Panda was for children...it had nothing on WallE (and I essentailly watched them back-to-back).

Zohan had its moments, but I will never watch it again.

Tropic Thunder FTW.

I think the problem is that people go into cartoon movies knowing what to expect, but live-action seems to have a higher bar. You have to take them for what they are worth.

That kid knifing Ben Stiller in the back and Tom Cruise in Tropic were awesome!

Kung Fu Panda

I was in stitches. According to my wife I was laughing louder than my 4 year old.

Forgetting Sarah Marshall sucked, last I remember. I might have to watch it again?

What? Forgetting Sarah Marshall is one of my all time favorite comedies. The characters in that movie are fucking hilarious. Of course it's not everybody's cup of tea but I thought it was great.
