In reference to the above issue concerning transfer from film:
While I am not a big fan of the so-called "high-definition" video, I should point out that not all movies are filmed with film. George Lucas used a digital camera for everything in Star Wars Episode 3. Granted, it seems like Lucas is making crummy movies lately, but I suspect that other film makers will soon follow suit and eventually it will matter what the final resolution of the home video product is.
