So I was jumping off this rope swing

Holy crap that's a long rope swing...seems like you let go fairly early too! I wonder how long it would take if you waited til the very end.

nice job though...I would have to take some time before attempting that.

No, its called the "fairy arms". Pretty gay looking, I know. I guess trying to right myself, and not go in sideways like I did the time before that. I landed at about a 45 degree angle, on my back and side. Knocked the wind out of me, was trying not to repeat it.

Yeah, it doesnt look that big from its angle. Its a pretty big fall, and far swing. You have to let go, before you hit the top of the swing. Kinda sling shotting yourself, or you dont clear the trees. Which is why I went in sideways the time before. You dont like drop straight down. Fun though.

The rope is kinda thick. The very bottom foot or so is a shoelace, so its a little misleading.

Where were you deployed in your sig pics?

In Iraq. Less than a mile from the Turkey and Syrian border. North of the Sinjar mountains. As far north as you can go in Iraq. Started out towards the bottom in Al Anbar province. Between Fallujah and Ramadi. The one is Christmas dinner. Actually very good, Campbells chicken noodle soup. Each truck got one, to split. We had four guys so... not much, but very good.

Cool. My uncle used to send me pics from Sharana, Afghanistan...looks alot like those pics but I guess alot of shit in that area looks the same lol.

Yeah, it does. It snowed on us, and got miserably cold. But its better than being miserably hot, imo. Three months till workup starts for Afghan. 🙂

Uh, let me see if I understand this correctly. The greatest country in the history of the world gave you 1/4 of a can...of chicken noodle soup...for Christmas dinner...in Iraq?

Wow. I don't support the military or Christmas, but I am really sorry, man. I don't believe in what you do...but at least thanks for what you're trying to do.

And, uh, cool shoulders, bro

We were a good days travel from any FOB. And much more from a base. We got supplies by chopper we were so far out. There was no chow hall, there was no showers, there was no toilets. I didnt shower for about 7 weeks. Other than pouring a water bottle over my head. It was just our vehicle, our tents, and the land. I dont know what else you expect them to do. We had a whole company out there, split up in different areas with four platoons. Thats a decent amount of soup. And to be honest, being a Marine, Im used to getting as little as possible to get by with. I like living in the field, and not being a fobbit.

I was pretty happy with the soup. Probably the best meal Ive ever had, in context. It tasted so good at the time, I almost came.
