So I was in the mall this morning and a random guy shoved me

I was walking in the wide open part of the mall when he shoved me.

I shoved him back almost instictivly - and he turned around bowing up and all. I told him that he did not need any trouble and to back off, he told me to fvck off and walked off.

WTF?

Do you instinctivly shove back when someone pushes you for no reason? How would you have reacted?
 
I would have kicked him square in the balls, then spit on his face when he was on the ground.

How'd I get pwned? He shoved, I shoved back. He resorted to a vulgarity for lack of ability to express himself. I remained stoic.

Had he punched me, I would have defended myself.

Well duh, but he was in a crowded mall. A knife to the neck causes mass chaos. A knife to the belly goes unnoticed if done properly. Especially if hes wearing a coat.

Ditto, except for the spitting part.

And to answer the OP's question, YES, I shove someone back instinctively or maybe even reflexively. I think most people do without even bothering to see if they can control the reaction.
