So I was given a prescription for Lunesta today.

I have had trouble sleeping for as long as I can remember. Tossing and turning to fall asleep, waking up 5 to 6 times a night, etc. Melatonin has been very helpful for the former, but not necessarily the latter. I also was having to drop 20 mg's of the Melatonin for it to have an effect.

Needless to say, I am looking forward to dropping my first one tonight🙂

UPDATE:

Wow....
Last night was the best sleep I have had in years🙂 I barely remember waking one time to get a drink due to a slight case of cotton mouth which might have been caused by the Lunesta.

I took the pill and about 15 min later I could feel the effects so I went straight to lay down. Was kind of like a wobbly, fun feeling😛 I layed down and was out just like that. The great thing about it is when my alarm went off this morning, it was not difficult to wake, nor did I feel groggy as I usually do.

Thank you Lunesta, you are my new bestest friend:thumbsup:

UPDATE #2:

If anyone else is having sleep problems that have failed other measures, I HIGHLY suggest talking to your doctor about Lunesta.

Only four days of taking it and I have noticed a significant change to my daytime concentration and focus. Obviously because I am finally getting restful sleep.

Last night I thought it would be interesting to count as high as I could once closing my eyes before I fell asleep. I think I made to about 19 or 20.

I use to dread and fear bedtime because of the tossing and turning and laying there awake waiting for sleep to come. Now I find myself looking forward to it🙂

do you have breathing problems too? or is it strictly a sleep thing?

i think my sleep trouble is mainly due to snoring/breathing trouble

my ex used to take ambien

about one time in maybe...7 shed hallucinate.

normally id go game or watch tv, but if she started seeing things i hung around for laughs.

I took some Tylenol PM last night hoping it would help me get to sleep, which it didn't but made it beyone diffcult to wake up today!

You should see I sleep clinic. I resently had a sleep problem also and went to one, it has now made a huge difference. I can sleep!!!
BTW becareful with sleep medication even though it says non-addicting, you will form a mental addiction went you try to sleep, your brain will be waiting for the pill to begin the sleep cycle. Be careful.

sweet man. I took lunesta a while back, and dont think i moved an inch the whole night. just make sure you really have 8 hours to devote to sleep, cuz it will make you take 8.

Also recommend you see a sleep clinic, you may have sleep apnea, which is leaving you brain with too little oxygen, and thus stopping you from entering rem sleep cycle.

also the Diphenhydarmine in Benadryl can work wonders, take 2 and youll be out cold

that's all that tylenol pm is - they add a benadryl component to it (diphenhydramine)

there is new sleep aid out called rozerem - its based on melatonin principles but rather than just taking melatonin, it stimulates the release/production of melatonin in your body to promote the sleep. it is non-addictive (no control status either) and has no 'must be taken for at least this many hours etc' u can take it if you have to wake up 4 hrs later and not be completely out of it. ask your doc!

Ambian is addictive, Sonota works well for me when I need it. My wife was having issues sleeping and they gave her a drug called Trazadone. It's a really shi!ty anti-depressant that makes you tired and helps you sleep. Works really really well for her. She had the same problems you do.

Watch out, when I took ambien I could sleep the next two nights at ALL unless I took the pill, that's why I called it addictive.

Oh and one other thing, if you haven't bought them yet you might not like the price. They are a couple bucks a pill.

so what kind of things do they do for you at a sleep clinic? i'm guessing they can diagnose sleep apnea.. do you stay over night?

also, are there any sleeping aids that pregnant women can take? my fiance has trouble sleeping.. i think it's mostly a mental thing cause she can sleep no problem if i'm up and playing on my computer or soemthing.. she just gets anxious when i can just lay down and sleep in 5 minutes and she's up for hours after that trying to sleep but can't.. she keeps rejecting the idea of a sleep clinic, but she might just have to do that

I already have them. $120 something to fill the prescription.

They wire you up with all kinds of sensors (taped/glued to various places, blood oxygen on the finger, etc.). They also have you on CCTV the whole time so they can watch you sleep.

If they detect a problem (like sleep apnea) they may wake you up to fit you with a CPAP.

Yes it is all night, though it's a relatively short night.

If she is pregnant, I would'nt advise anything that induces sleep. Even Melatonin may have adverse affects on the baby. When I was pregnant with my kids, I was apprehensive about taking regular ole Tylenol and aspirin regardless about what my doctor said. There were some times when I wanted to kill my headaches or backaches with a pill, but I just toughed it out😉

I might have to talk to my doctor about this!

I too have had problems falling asleep for as long as I can remember. I'll toss and turn for hours. As a child one doctor told my parents and me that I have an "active mind" and that it wasn't worth worrying about.

I envy people who can go to bed and fall asleep. I'm always thinkin' about stuff in bed. It usually takes me 2-4 hours to fall asleep.

I will have to look into this. I usually lay awake 2 hours before falling asleep and almost always have a hard time waking up.

Did you ask your doctor specifically about this, or was it something he/she wanted to try?
