I decided to make a model of it in milkshape3d.

imported it into blender3d....

downloaded the yafray raytracer (yet another free raytracer)

downloaded some monkey.blend file from someone and put my wine glass in there,

and zing! >wine glass render

7 minutes later it was rendered.

ok it's not done yet though the glass has no thickness it's just flat faces but still not bad yet eh?

That's the most convoluted process I've ever heard of for rendering something simple like that. In 3D Studio Max, you'd draw half the glass in profile, hit "lathe", and hit "render".

And you'd have the crappiest looking piece of crap ever. Whereas my wine glass look teh realness.

w00t.

As for reflective properties, it already has that. You can see the glass stem reflected on itself at the bottom on its "pedestal" or whatever that's called.

There is nothing placed in front of it for reflection off the top of the glass but I can try putting something there later.
