...and this crazy lady came in, not wanting to buy anything, and she ended up spending $25,000! I mean she was seriously going senial or something. She bought a LOT of stuff.

i was 1/2 of the salesman. She picked up 2 powerbooks, 2 imacs, 2 $1000 video editing softwares, like 200 dvd's, a sony lcd tv, like $1200 in voltage regulators, and all sorts of other misc. EXPENSIVE cables and stuff.

Sounds like you guys took advantage of her. 😕

What he doesn't realize is that the "crazy lady" actually was using a STOLEN CREDIT CARD and his store just got ripped off.

nope, we didn't take advantage of her. infact, while i was ringing her out (which was a 2 hour process alone), she said to ring everything TIMES 5!!! she wanted to walk out of there paying $125,000 for stuff SHE DIDN'T EVEN TAKE HOME!

she left EVERYTHING but the dvd's at best buy. she said "you will get a phone call from somebody and they'll tell you were to deliver the stuff." We did sold orders on everything she didn't take and left it in the warehouse. I doubt she'll be back or calling anybody though. I guess she used to be some big person at chicago state university and loyola university, got her doctors in like 2 different things, used to teach special needs kids, and has been off work on a medical leave of absence for 6 months now. She told us she was doing it to get back at her husband (although the credit cards were in her name).

/nods

That or she'll return it all when she or her husband realizes what she did.

No home consumer buys that much gear and doesn't end up with SERIOUS buyer's remorse.

Uhhhhh.

It sounds like she had someones credit card, and she was really pissed at them.

Actually now I read it, it sounds fairly legit. No one with a stolen credit card would be so obvious. And besides, not many people have that kind of credit limit anyway.

people, she had her OWN credit cards, you don't think that the fact that she was buying so much stuff wouldn't trigger an alarm????

Yes, but her husband only has to dispute the charges and your store takes a massive hit in losses. Look on you P&L report under chargebacks. Its quite a lot isn't it....this little event may increase that quite a bit.

In addition, even if he were to pick them up and then return everything, your store is going to take a huge hit in return/sales ratios.

but i think she is seriously like an escaped lunatic straight from the funny house. she is staying at a hotel and wanted to know where she can get her passport picture taken. she had a brand new t-top red trans am, and she seemed to not care about life. She was hitting on most of the guys there and, get this, she went across the street to buffalo wild wing and bought EVERYBODY there 2 rounds! then she came back to best buy after me and the other salesperson went and had lunch (on her, ofcourse 😉)

sounds like she is a mid-40s woman who is going through a divorce with her wealthy husband. He probably cheated on her with a younger woman and she is getting back at him and making herself feel better by spending all this money.
that is a lot of stuff.

In some cases, yes, you do not sell her the stuff. I would highly suspect a chargeback in this situation.

You could have capitalized on this by having her give YOU the stuff. Swap it for high dollar items to minimize actual units. Complete transfer off company time and off company property so you don't get sued by BB or audited by the IRS. Then resell and get yourself a nice house.
