it was a bar/type lounge. Its actually more of a club with a dance floor but no one had started dancing yet and the music was just gettin started so things were really quiet

Because ignoring everything around you to seem more important than everyone in your presence is the best way to do things. That gives the girls time to notice your wrist band, abercrombie jeans, pink shirt with the collar popped and $100 sandles that aparently top it all off. That way, it takes less time for them to ask about the "cool chinese symbol" tattoed on your arm that they really don't care about because they just want you to buy them a drink.
