I'd get my family and the pets out and try to grab my purse on the way out, everything else can be replaced, hell, the trading community here is so tight,somebody would probably donate a system that was capable of at least surfing the web and keeping my records.Why risk lives over a machine?

1. Clothes and sentimental items
2. DVDs, software, and backup media
3. Class material and books

Nothing that important to back up since all my work are on remote servers.

you're really stupid if you don't have renters insurance. it's like $200 a year.
 
That's why you back up your data regularly and keep it off site. If you're willing to risk your life for your data, it is important enough to back up once a week and store off-site.

And keep all non-replacable documents in a safety deposit box or at the very least, in a fire resistant safe in your house. Never hang original pictures. Make copies of family photos and store the originals in a fire-safe place.

Buy some home-owner's/renter's insurance for the rest.
 
I'd grab the extinguisher or if the fire was bigger go outside for the hose. If I had to exit the house, I'd grab my laptop.
 
Or you could just grab the tower.... But unless it's on fire or you want to be roasted to death, then I guess it would work. First thing I would grab would be my laptop but then agian I have a fire extinguisher in my room so I would likely use that first...
 
1. My cat
2. My laptop
3. My safe: it has my passport, car title, some cash, checks, and other important documents. Its not heavy, I should be able to grab it with my laptop and cat on the other hand 🙂

The only thing that's actually screwed in would by a DVI, VGA, and one cat5 cable.

the VGA isn't even screwed in, the DVI spinners are huge, and I broke the tab off my cat5 cable, so.

so... unscrew DVI, yank case, run.

Then again, there's nothing REALLY important on it, so I would probably just get a better one afterwards 😛

i'd do that AFTER i got my stuff in one arm. thats why i only grab the drives and the laptops, cuz i can throw em in a bag and alert the neighbors. I can't run around alerting people if im carrying a huge tower 🙂
 
I'd grab the kids and run, and have the wife get my books, guns and DVD backups. Seeing as the wife is demon spawn anyways, fire doesnt really bother her so she could haul quite a bit of stuff out before it was burned.
