So i want to cool my PWM / ram

so my case(raidmax x1) has a 80mm fan in the side that pushes some mean air flow at 12v and really cools the heck out of my pwm and ram. my only problem is. it rattles like a beast at 12v and is un bearable to listen to. Getting a new fan might be an option. but is there any imediate solution? when i run the fan at 5v(via a zalman splitter that splits a molex into 2 5v and 2 12v)it pushes air but not as much and i still hit 50c on the pwm idle. and the ram is hot to the touch. any other suggestions?

Squirrel,
Buy an adapter 80 to 92mm. Install a 92x25 fan at 40-48cfm.

If your going to controll the fan, buy the 92mm Nidec at http://www.bgmicro.com/ >fans>page2.
When I spot a good fan like this one, I'll throw one or two in with the rest of my order.
I bought a soldoring iron and some other do-dads from these guys awhile back.

Come-on guy!! Just go to Jab-Tech or SVC. The adapter in plastic is $3 and a fan about $4.

This will permit a larger quieter fan w/o modding the side panel 😉
