So I waked a mile on the treadmill and biked 24 miles yesterday.

I'm sorry, I cannot believe you biked 24 miles in 45 minutes. (after walking 1 mile - thats 15 minutes alone). The machine you were on probably said you went 24, but its probably doing some waky calculation on resistance.

Good job none the less.

Wow, you rode your wakeboard on the treadmill for a MILE? You must be a pretty damn awesome wakeboarder!!!! Rock on, surferdude.

No way that biking total is correct. Granted I ride a mountain bike that doesn't have slick tires, but I average 13-14 MPH on flat ground.

I went over by 10 minutes.

I'm sorry, I cannot believe you should be posting on ATOT if it takes you 15 minutes to walk a fvcking mile.

Good job nonetheless.

That's 4 MPH. Hop on a treadmill and try WALKING that pace for 30 minutes. Not running. Not jogging. Walking. That's a very fast clip for a walk.

And I call shens on the original post.

You know it's funny, I didn't even think about it like that. When I hear mile I automatically assume you run. And I even wrote walk too. 😕

15 minutes walking should still get you about 1.25 miles. You can walk at 5 MPH and even up to 5.5 MPH.

Yes, 4mph is a FAST pace for walking, which would equal a 15 minute mile. I also agree with the shens, even if he went 10 minutes over thats still a crazy pace.

We should ask Fausto how impressive 24 miles in 45 minutes is

it would equal a 32mph speed - which is not even reachable on a bike, as far as i'm concerned. 55 minutes would be a 26.5mph speed -still just about impossible.

Okay, this time for sure I know I'm right. 32 MPH is not an impossible speed to reach, regardless of how much concern you have for your bike. 😛

They reach speeds of up to 55 and more in the Tour De France, and that's on hills.

And some people have been recorded at walking at 12MPH. The bottom line is that for your average person 4MPH is a very fast clip for a walking pace.

20-23MPH is a VERY fast speed on a bike and can't be sustained for very long periods of time by your average biker unless the entire distance is down hill. I've hit 45MPH going downhill and pounding myself to death. I've also done a couple miles at around 22 MPH. It's killer on you if you aren't in training for it.

😉

And again I'll harp on you 🙂

See, I'm still young and athletic so I can't relate to you guys I guess. Since I'm active every day I'm in decent shape year-round and a 15 minute mile to me is laughable. Like seriously, if I walked up to my friends and said I walked a 15 minute mile they would either ask me if I was joking and laugh or ask me why the hell I didn't run.

And as for biking, I use to bike all the time everywhere til my bike got busted so I guess I had stamina built up.

 for everyone
:gatorade; for those working out/losing weight/etc

I used to run 20k races and have a personal best mile of 5:06. 4MPH is still a fast speed to walk.

🙂
