Heh, I think I'd be insulted too if a roommate bought a new HDTV and kept it in their bedroom.

why?

you want a HDTV go fucking buy one.

Just depends on whether you're roommate is also your friend. I'd share my HDTV with a friend, I'd keep it to myself if we just shared a living space.

yeah i would share mine. but if my roomate baught one and did not share i wouldnt have a hissy fit about it.

I wouldn't have a hissy fit, but it would make me think twice about how much of a friend he really was.

jesus christ, there's already a tv from said roommate in the living room and you'd bitch about not getting the HDTV in the main room? If YOU want an hdtv as communal property either split the bill or buy your own

about the dog, either shes pulling ur chain or she really got one, either way, whatta biatch!

and about the tv. i recently did the same, id be damned if i spend hundreds of my money on something and not put it wherever i damn well please!

that being said, my roommate has it made, i provided an xbox360, ps2, 32inch lcd hdtv, wireless router, furniture, the whole bitttttttt.

but i mean, why be greedy? i left my tv in the living room and bought a lil 19" lcd for my room, i dont use it that much so why waste it? share the wealth.

easy to say before it's wrecked by a bratt mutt.

if this is getting revenge for you not spending time there because you have a gf....i think thate means she likes you....

If something like this stops you being friends then you were nto friends in the first place.

there may be reasons its not in the living room. teh roomate may be a clutz, maybe there already is a tV in the living room, maybe he enjoys watching tv in his room and wants the good one.

either way the roomate has no say. and if htey came bitching about it they can suck my big toe.

I'd go apeshit if a roommate of mine got a dog without asking. Don't know how you can come to a resolution here, but in my world it would end with that dog not living in the same living space as me.

Some people care not about others stuff. Even if you ask them nicely to be careful, not to get their greasy hands on the remote before washing their hands............ I'm mean now when it comes to stuff I own! Don't touch!

He paid for it, he can do whatever the frack he wants with it.

How is a dog any different?

Dog != TV

Well no shit, but if she paid for the dog and takes care of it, what's the big deal?

my tv doesnt shit on the floor.

You got ripped off

You people know that if you take care of your dog it won't leave little shitprises everywhere. I'm not saying your roommate will, but give her a chance before you get all pissed. No need to cry over spilled milk just yet.

So between 12am and 5am when the puppy has to take a crap or piss and yelps LOUDLY for 30+min?
Screw that! If it's a puppy, she'll have to keep that damn thing locked up in the bathroom within' 2 days..................... Trust me!

Crap/Piss/Yelp/Crap/Piss/YELP/Crap/Piss/Yelp/Crap/Crap/Yelp/Piss/Crap

My roommate wanted to get cats. Sometimes I wonder what would've happened if she got kittens. Maybe they would get along with my baby guinea pig then. Now that he's a lot older I don't think he'll like other animals. He's terrified of dogs already.

Make it clear to her that it's her responsibility to keep the dog away from your stuff. There are things you can't control like your computer. Dogs don't chew on stuff, but I know cats and rabbits do frequently, so if they chew on your cables you need to make it clear that she needs to deal with damage.

At least my roommate did tell me she was going to try to get cats and what not...

alrighty, if I was in your place I would be pissed. You are both on the lease, she needs to consult you before bringing in a dog. It is not your responsibility to keep your electronics out of your dogs mouth since the dog is not yours. Since she is also on the least (right, she is on the lease?) you can't really tell her to get rid of it.... but that would piss me off to no end. Sounds like you need a way to get out of there... or get her out of there.

My GF did something similar to me, bought a dog against my wishes when we were living in an apartment. To this day I am uncertain if she knows how close I came to kicking her and her dog out.
I don't mind the dog now because he lives outside in the yard where he belongs.

Outside dog = the only type of dog.

Sounds like you got dicked over. What I would do is write up a contract saying that she's the sole caretaker of the dog, you will not take care of it in any way, and that any damages to your personal property done by the dog will need to be reimbursed by her, the owner. Make her sign it and that way you cover your ass. If she takes the contract seriously and keeps the dog in line, you win. If she fvcks up and breaks the contract, you get to take her ass to court and you win.

i can agree with that. don't leave your shit laying around if you don't want it damaged. you should put your shit away anyway. as for keeping the dog out of your room and keeping the door open, buy one of those baby gates or whatever they're called. a few bucks and you have a dog barrier that lets air into your room.

"she claims my electronics are my responsibility to keep away from the dog, and I need to be the one to keep the dog out of my room, and I'd just have to live with the noise."

WTF?
