So I sprained my ankle over the weekend.

Around afternoon Sat playing[or trying to] Tennis. I'd say it's somewhere between grade 1 - 2 sprain of my left ankle. It is my 2nd left ankle sprain, last time was about 10 years ago. Applied RICE as best I could since I was on a weekend trip. Was able to walk[when I needed to] albeit with great difficulty due to the reduced ROM from the minor swelling yesterday. I was able to walk a lot easier today with a slight twinge on longer strides.

Will take a few days off from all activities and prob hit the gym near the end of the week... I'm due for a week off anyway. Obviously anything standing is out of the question. Probably do bench presses, pullups, sitting shoulder presses and abs. Any idea what I can do for cardio? I mean, I'm sure as hell not going to let a minor ankle sprain sideline me for 2+ weeks since I'm trying to cut. Also not sure if I need to alter my caloric intake to adjust for my reduced physical activity. Any advice appreciated.

If your ankle can take the ROM, biking would be a good substitute - no impact and still relatively difficult. If not, then swimming might be a good idea. Again, same concept. If you can't do any of those, you can work on the arm bike. Most gyms have one for disabled patrons. They aren't that good of a cardiovascular workout because your arms will tend to burn out pretty quickly. Hope that helps.

When I first got out of the aircast after I broke my ankle I stuck with biking. I still have to go a little easy on the jogging so I often use an elliptical machine at the gym, but if you can't stand right now then that's obviously not an option.

FWIW: My head has always been on the hard side so my best/quickest recoveries have been the last 2 times. Cast and the boot for 10 days.
