I've had some luck getting them to reverse the fees if I call in and ask them to. I did this a few times in college

since then I've learned to keep track of my balance a little better. Also.... overdraft protection rocks for those that are forgetful.

Usually if you sign up for something else they might write off this fee. Or if you have a long history with BoA

you could try? I think they change shifts around 8pm pacific time on the weekdays, so you'll have better luck with a CSR that's still in a good mood, weekends I don't know about. And I don't know if they outsource now so ymmv... I guess I went over my limit more time than I thought

Read the terms and conditions which you AGREED to by signing the application.

I rest my case :)

Sometimes they will waive it if you ask nicely and ask them to waive it as a "one time courtesy".

I thought they were supposed to process all deposits before all debits for the day? Maybe it's just that way with checks...

don't spend the money if you don't have it

QTF. When I see these whiney threads about overdraft charges I sit back a laugh.

You maxed out your credit card? What is the limit?

I have one that I recently maxed...I didn't realize it only had a $1200 limit. I have another card with a $18,000 limit but I hadn't activated it so I couldn't use it. I had just booked a trip on the one and bought an expensive camera lens with it. I didn't realize the limit on it was so freaking low though.

Simple solution. Close your account go to a little guy.

I have been banking with one of the smallest banks in this town for the last 6 years. I have overdrafted a few times in which they called me to tell me to come deposit money to avoid fees. I can also overdraft as much as I want as long as I put money in on that same business day. Also those bank visa cards won't keep you from overdrafting. Depending on where you shop sometimes cards don't get charged for days or even weeks.

One advantage of MC Check Card I have is that they will cover like $250 over my limit, just as long as I don't let it go too long.

Call and ask nicely.

Edit: when you say "limit" do you mean "balance" and when you say "CC" do you mean "debit card?"

i tried that with my bank when i overdrawn my checking account by a couple hundred dollars (the checks i deposited didn't go through for 5 business days..)

the first call was some douche who was rude and wouldn't budge.

the second call was some indian woman who waived the $20 charge for me =)

so yeah, try a couple of times.

Call them up and beg for forgiveness, then ask them to raise your limit to $200 while you're at it.

Because some people don't have good credit? And with a debit card you can't really overspend in the same way you can with a CC.
