Unfortunately, it would not end up being based on your perception, but the perception of those conducting the investigation, then the EEOC, then a judge, and finally a jury.

It doesn't have to go that far. Just a preemptive piglet strike to put the heat on her instead of the OP.

It will reach an investigation if his HR dept has any brains. The others, yea, probably not.

Since 'piglet' has already placed a complaint to her boss, trying to get a 'preemptive pgilet strike' in by contacting HR is going to look retaliatory. All-in-all, funny in thought, bad in practice.

He worked forever on some project that sucked and half worked so whenever the job failed on the server it would email out the message: 'Oh, hamburgers! My code crashed!' along with a more detailed real message.

He was on the mailing list and never understood the reference.

Have you apologized to her yet?

Just briefly, I told her I was a little offended that she gave me the nickname doogie howser since neil patrick harris was gay, and that I took it out on her by giving her a nickname. She seemed to calm down and apologized over and over and told me I should have told her it offended her.

I'm glad I did that instead of sending an email to HR. Might just die off now.

So like an hour later my boss comes by and says, did your call pigl... I mean Steph, piglet? I guess HR is going to have a talk with me.

Anyone ever done that before?

HR is definitely going to have a talk with you over that?

ffs, people are so super sensitive.

you should've just oinked in her general direction.

Calling her "piglet" would have been funnier if she were Muslim. ;)

Agreed, but then I probably would be much worse off too.

I wasn't being the least bit serious. :(

On my last day at my previous job, I told my dept. head what a low scum sucking dirtbag of a whore she was. Does that count?

Damn how did she respond?

Only with that hurt puppy dog look in her eyes and the words, "I never liked you." I did this in front of a few other people there.
I still have friends that work there, and they tell me that she was pretty quiet the next week.

speaking about things that slipped while talking to a co-worker.

I worked with a gal, she was lesbian, she was great! a good friend, super funny and we just hit it off like two peas in a pod.

One time we were walking and talking and she said something to me and I thought "Awww man that sucks!"

but

it came out

"Aww man thats gay!!"

it broke my heart to see the look on her face and she was never the same with me again. I lost a good friend.

I did the same thing around a gay guy once, but it turned out much better.

Me: "Thats gay"
him: "Hey! You know, that is offensive to some people"
me: "Oh,I never really gave it much thought before, sorry"
him: "No problem, no worries"

I also have a gay brother who says "thats gay" all the time. He says it has two meanings now and most gay people he knows don't care at all.
