So, I saw "The Life Aquatic" this evening...

... and I absolutely hated it. Now, before you all start whining that, "I didn't get it," I'm a very big Wes Anderson fan. "Rushmore" is probably my favourite comedy of all-time. However, this film just didn't go anywhere and it did it very, very slowly.

First, Wes Anderson needs to let us in on his little inside jokes. The humor is so quiet and subtle, not to mention sparse, that one needs to pay close attention for fear of missing it.

The characters development is shallow and ultimately they're uninteresting and disposable. In fact, the main character is Anderson's little diorama of a boat. We spend two hours following these people in the hopes that they'll grow on us, but only a hour after finishing the film I've forgotten their names.

It was a horrible movie. Avoid.

I'm kinda the opposite.

I can't stand the movie Rushmore (sorry, it just doesn't work for me).

However this movie actually looks to be pretty good (I haven't seen it yet, so I can't really pass judgement on it though).

The Royal Tenenbaums was alright, its not one of my favorite movies, but its ok.

I heard it is horrible!
The trailer is awesome IMO but that's supposed to be ALL jokes in the movie! ALL!!!! YES, ALL OF THEM!!!!

I really liked it, but i think it's only funny if you've ever seen those 70s exploration specials... becuase the movie is a 100% parody of that.

bottle rocket is my fave, royal tenenbaums was ok, rushmore was good, i hope life aquatic isnt as bad as you say 🙁

My gf made me go see it. It was funny at points, but over all just so-so.

I hated the royal tenenbaums, even the worst of dry british humor doesn't compare that piece of crap.

I liked it, but then I don't need a punchline, toilet humor or a bit of slapstick to clue me on when something is funny.

I thought it was really good, I felt the character development was a lot deeper than Rushmore. Maybe I'm just odd, but I enjoyed it.

hmmm.....maybe there is hope for me seeing this thing .....

I loved Life Aquatic. I saw it as more of a relatinoship movie though. Steve Zissou has spent most of his life messing up his relationships, and finally finds himself alone, and wanting to fight to fix all that.

I dont know, maybe Im reading into it, but I really loved it.

Royal Tennenbaums is one of my favorite all time movies though, and rushmore is up there too.

I liked it, I loved the royal tenembaums.

I like weird movies. I loved it when they were burying the pirate at sea and jeff goldbloom shows up. bill murray goes from having a nice little ceremony for the guy to saying"throw him off the other side" 🙂

Nah, Rushmore was a much better piece of character development than this flick. However, this wasn't a bad movie by any means.

It was pretty good but i was pretty drunk when i saw it. Drinking many beers before at a restraunt + then going to the bar at the theatre + really long movie = i didnt even see the last 5 minutes cause i had to piss so bad.
