So I Rode In My Friend's New Fully Loaded 335i Sedan

Motor is sweet but the rest of the car does nothing for me. Interior room is that of a Civic, and paying $45K for this seems a bit unreasonable to me considering how ugly the exterior is. Bangle should be shot!

5th and 6th aren't overdrive ratios?

nope, it's a true 6th. No overdrive garbage.

so the 335i is garbage, because its 6th gear is overdrive...

Manual gear ratios - V/VI/R 1.00/0.87/3.68 :1

335i tech data

/ignorance = bliss

What does it mean if the 6th gear is overdrive?

Nope. BMW's website is wrong.

😕

hehehe

seriously for that price though why not just get a 5?

Almost certainly Retail++, which is pretty much the only thing that keeps me from buying a BMW myself. Great cars, but the status symbol markup is unacceptable IMO.

I think yahoo was showing something about European vacation package with a BMW, where you go there drive it for a week, come back and wait for them to ship it to you. I wonder if they have that for the 335i and if it is closer to retail

Yes, and they say that the cost is cheaper than buying in the US.

She got every single package and option available. She even had LEDs under the handles for the directionally challenged😕. Pretty damn nice. She has me impatiently shopping around for a new car.

The LED under the handles are standard equipment.

I got 2k off of MSRP on my 335i. This was quite interesting, considering the Infiniti dealer wouldn't shave a penny off of MSRP on the 07 G35. It all depends on where you are and how much competition there is around.

I was looking at the 335i at my local BMW dealer a few weeks ago. They had probably 30 of them on the lot and I didn't see a single one under $45k. Most of them were $46-48k so you're probably looking at around mid $50k OTD.

Most cars on the dealer's lot are bundled with at least one or two packages. But you can still get quite a bit of discount off of the MSRP.

I love my BMW and luckily hadn't had to do too much work on it. Sometimes I drive my gf's Honda civic and wonder how it even stays on curves on the on ramps. They are definitely a drivers car, if you want to pay for it. Everyone has their own taste so just drive what you enjoy.

Overdrive isn't garbage. It allows for getting better gas milage when cruising? In my Cobra 5th and 6th are both overdrive gears but it has a bigger powerband than the 335 that's why the BMW has only 6th.

Does the fact that it is "fully loaded" really add anything to this post? 😕

Considering it starts at around 42K....she added about 10+ grand worth of options. Some people might care to see how much she ended up paying.

Then why didn't you just say she paid over $50k for it? Personally, I think those cars are ridiculously overpriced.

You can buy a Lexus IS350, fully loaded for the low $40k.

I seriously need a car with a bit more go =(

You know they sell additional 50 hp boost stickers for the Civics for real cheap. The mufflers that add 100 hp cost a bit more. 😉

I eventually ended up saying how much it cost her. Originally, I was I'm assuming whoever reads the post knows the cars msrp. I also assumed that they would know how pricey the options are on BMWs. So to them, it would matter. In your case, it doesn't matter, so just keep running a long there..

3/4 the performance and none of the soul, sounds like a deal!

Not everyone likes driving sofas. I find it funny how in every German car thread some Japanese fanboy brings up a cheaper, inferior Japanese car and acts like its the greatest car ever. A $50k 335i is a much better value than a $40k Toyota Camry.

It's also worth pointing out that a "fully loaded" IS isn't in the low 40s, it's more like $46-47K. Similar money will buy a very nicely equipped 335i that is MUCH faster and better to drive.

WHo the fvck cares about driving experience? Everyone seems to use that as an excuse yet they would never take it that far on public roads.

Now someone will say that they do take it that far on public roads and I will go search the against street racing thread for a quote.

Yes it helps if a car has some get up, but twisties and neutral handling at the limit and soul? Christ if you guys have back roads that good where you need those things driving the speed limit I am moving where you live. Does it help if the car is composed on the road, absolutely. But all the crap that BMW gets praised for, is for how it performs on the track or at illegal speeds. Conversely those same traits make it a pain in the ass to drive around regularly (suspension tuning, steering sensitivity and dead zone, seats etc).

I wonder how many 335 owners take their car to the track. Or go over 70mph? A very slim few. Damn BMW's marketing works, people actually believe they own the ultimate driving machine. Sorry that is an F1 car or the like, in which BMW does not win.

Also Jules is not an asian fanboy, he simply recommended another car that one could buy for that price range with similar features, and you guys jump on them because god forbid he makes it look bad that you paid a ridiculous price for a badge.

And before you get off saying I hate BMW's, no I don;t. Granted I'd take an AMG over an M anyday, but before they got bangled many BMW;s were sexy, and the new concept looks great without the bangle butt and no idrive.

I'm not vouching for the IS350, but I think you're thinking of the ES350.
