so I raced a Mustang today..

A few Civics, what looked like a mid-80's Vette (slow), and a few other cars..can't remember them all. 11 runs total.

I was able to get a spectator to video, and I think I got my best run of the night right then. I'm not 100% positive because you can't see the time on the video..but matching up as best I can, it looks to be the one. 🙂

My best 60' was 1.993 - I'm pretty happy considering I'm running 225-series Kumho Ecstas back there.. 😛

Here are my 60's:

2.063
2.059
2.153
2.035
1.993
2.074
2.038
2.045

This was my first time at the track with this car - I don't think I can get much better 60' times without new tires, though.

those times are impressive for that car... work on your 60ft for sure (not sure what mr2's normally 60ft).

You'd be amazed how much of a difference the first 60ft make:
-On my bike (08 busa) going from a 1.87 60ft to a 1.61 60ft my times dropped from 9.65 @ 154 to a 9.07 @ 156 (mph didn't change much at all, but et did a ton).
-In my mustang (03 cobra) going from a 1.90 60ft to a 1.65 60ft my times dropped from 10.85 @ 131 to a 10.35 @ 133 (again, mph didn't change much at all, but et did a ton).

I would wager if you cut your 60 ft down to a 1.6x area, your et would be around a 13.1.-13.2

gl, and keep us posted!

 What have you done to get that thing to put up times like that? Sure as hell isn't stock.

Doesn't take much on that car. Just a 2.76" pulley (14 psi) will get you 11s.

with all do respect... going from anywhere in the 11's to the low 10's takes a shit ton more effort/power then going from 13's to 12's or 12's to 11's.

my car at the time weighed 3350lbs with me in it, and made 635rwhp and 589rwtq

we can discuss more if you want. feel free to make a terminator thread, let's not hi-jack the OP thread

I really need better tires - I have Kumho Ecsta ASTs now. I think my 60' times are about average (MR2 quarter mile registry) - I have an LSD transmission, which helps a lot..but the 225 series street tire doesn't help. I'd love to make a run with a set of DRs... 😀

'91 Toyota MR2 Turbo with a few extras

My roomate has the same car. Stock turbo? What PSI are you set at? Fuel cut eliminator?

JDM Gen2 3SGTE with CT20B ceramic turbo
First few runs at ~14psi, later runs at 17-18psi with a race gas mix
Fuel cut is gone
Intake, intercooler, downpipe, exhaust, clutch, boost controller

Do you see a standalone in your near future? The 3SGTE gets really bad to tune and play with past 350 WHP or so with the factory ECU in the way and plethora of independent piggyback units. Stupid hard PROM non programmable factory computer 🙁

On the high end you have AEM and Motec for $1700+ but I've seen a few capable < $1000 systems like the Hydra Nemesis and Haltech. The AEM is nice in that it's plug and play with the factory harness and already base tuned for a stock engine.

Not this year, but maybe next year. I'm hoping to move to Arizona (job app has been sent - hoping for an opening to come up in the next few months)...when I have a dyno nearby, I'll be able to play with more stuff.

I'll probably go for a water to air intercooler and maybe water injection - should be okay with that on the factory (JDM) ECU. As this ECU is a bit more aggressive than the USDM one, it'd be nice to have a little safety net.

When I have a somewhat-local dyno to play with, I'll likely go with 264 cams, water injection and a standalone. Oh..and wider back tires. I am hoping to have a streetable 12 second car...won't be cheap, but it'll be fun. 😛

3SGTE is a gold mine and cheaper than most to get power out of. Just watch that #3 and get a better intake manifold, the factory casting is crap 😉

Why 264? All I ever see on MR2s are 272s all the time and they sound mean as hell.

I'm sure you're already familiar with ATS, but here anyway just in case.

And http://www.mrcontrols.com/primers/power.htm is a favorite.

I want to keep it easily streetable - 272s are an option..I do like the sound of a fairly heavy cam, but I don't want to have a really peaky engine. More research is required, I guess. 😛 A sidefeed manifold is definitely on the list.

I'm familiar with ATS - my car had (and still has) a sticker.
