I've been doing this internship job for he past 5 months. As an intern, I assume that I was suppose to be taught things by certain individuals from my department. This of course was not the case at all. Every single thing that I have learned was from a book or by researching off of google. I basically function as a full-time worker who is assisting with all duties aside from the company's intranet website. Today the company owner had a talk with me and told me "at the rate that you are doing things, I'm going to have to let you go if you keep this up." I questioned him what did he meant and he said that he didn't like the fact that I was talking to people while doing my work because it was preventing them from doing theirs as well. HELLO? I'm help desk here. If I do not talk and ask people what their problem is, HTF am I suppose to resolve the problems? Anyway, my manager told me to stay, but at $12/hr, being taught by myself, and doing 90% of the IT departments duties, I quit. Basically, I told everyone that I was familiar with that I was going. We all had lunch, and that was the end of that. I'm jobless now, but back to school I go now. That's if I do not find another job first. So, ya, I feel great. I have enough $ for the following 2 months. Wish me well. 😀
Cliffnotes:
1. Owner of company says he wants to fire me
2. I talk to my manager and he says don't go
3. I tell everybody that I'm going to go except for the managerial people
4. I turn in my key to the server closet and my time sheet
5. I eat farewell lunch with others and I'm really happy now
6. YAY!
