So i ordered a couple of these from monoprice
Keystone Jack - Banana Jack w/Red Ring (White)
http://www.monoprice.com/produ...=1&format=1#largeimage

Iv soldered a few times before but never for anything dealing with audio
what type of solder should use? any tips like should i wrap the wire around the post then put solder on both the post and the wire?
ok kinda new to soldering

The wire is either 12 - 14 gauge if that matters

thanks,

You'll need a VERY hot iron to solder to that and most likely at that point you would melt the plastic. You probably should just use what looks to be a screw back and clamp it down with that.

damn, ill have to send all of them back and get something of this sort:

Those would be much better. I wouldn't even both sending them back since they are only 70 cents a piece.

Might as well give it a try...if you have a 20-30 watt iron it might be hot enough to heat up that post and the 12AWG wire. See how it works.

Ok so this is what I did i forked the wire around the post then folded the wire over the post it was a strong hold but i went ahead and put solder on the wire
some did stick on the post but not enough to hold the wire by its self, thus this twist \ fold method worked

thanks
