DDR people, please recommend some good DDR games and two good DDR pads for use with an Xbox.

All I can say is don't go with the madcatz ones, atleast for carpet.

I wanted to get into DDR but I didn't have enough room in my room for a nice pad.

ddr is a very good game itself.

Is it an actual game? It's not like "first person shooter" and then "half life"?

Yes, the only difference is there's different "mixes" out there.. it's not a genre of game, it is a game, there's just various releases of it..

more along the lines of

Half Life: Team Fortress
Half Life: Blue Shift

etc..
etc..

I have the Red Octane Ignition 2.0 pad. It's very sturdy and very responsive. It's about $100 at most retailers though. I'm not sure how much you're willing to spend. Of course, you can always get a Cobalt Flux pad. Those are the absolute best, but they run about $300 each.

is your xbox hacked?

eta: ignition pads are fine. check out ddrfreak.com for reviews of products and different games you can get

Other companies make dance and rhythm games, DDR is an actual game franchise. You might try the new Nintendo dance game for GameCube, it's supposed to kick arse.

thanks for the information. i can't play ddr in any form anyway.

If you're going to get a soft pad, which you probably are since hard ones cost a lot, and also will be playing on carpet, then go to home depot or something and get them to cut you two pieces of smooth, good quality plywood board that are slightly larger than the pads, then go home and stick the pads on with some tape at the corners. DDR on a soft surface just doesn't do it.

And LOL at deftron, read the thread. 🙂

The standard konami pads are just fine. Plywood + tape + konami pad + thin layer of foam (also available at the nearest lowes/home depot/w/e) = 100$ nice pad. It looks a little ghetto though.

Its called instead of buying a stupid game for XBOX, go download Stepmainia (www.stepmania.com) and BT for some songs (of dubious legality, unless you own the games). $25 for a USB to PS2 game pad converter, and some money for a decent pad. Red ocatane is good just as long as you don't pay full retail.

haha cool

yeah basically I decided that I want to get more exercise, but I hate going to the gym and working out at home, so my wife suggested we get a ddr setup like her friend had. so, I get an xbox, a new game, AND exercise. How cool is that? 😀
