The kid might as well have Ewok as his middle name to date him furter. Nothing like a link to the 70s and Star Wars.
Why is it sad? No one has a say in what their name is when they are born. If it was his first name, I would be more inclined to agree with you as it is a bit out there for a first name, but as a middle name it doesn't really matter. None of my friends ever knew my middle name growing up and it was never said outloud at school. I can't find a case for an arguement against the name in this case. It has a personal connection with the father, even if it is in a weird way, which is more than I can say for most people who have names picked out of the blue.
