FYI: Epiphone != Les Paul

Not knocking you as I have an Epi myself. Looked better before IMO.

You do know that Epiphone is Gibson's overseas company right?

QFT...
But Epiphone isn't nearly as good as Gibson.

There is something about American made guitars which are better than Chinese (mass made) guitars. Same style and sometimes make, but the American made ones have more detail and individual precision to them.

That being said, I am more of an acoustic guitar person myself. ;) Martin FTW.

Although it would be nice to pick up electric. Too expensive though.

There's more differences than that. Epiphones are not true solid body guitars, the necks are often bolt ons, their stock pickups are terrible (as are the tuning machines), and the wood quality is far below that of true Gibson Les Pauls.

I just modded my Les Paul (real one :) ). It's a light burst with a '59 neck and zebra pickups (490R and 498T). I put on vintage knobs, made the neck volume a push/pull POTS so the pickups could play in series. The pickup switch is also "aged" (had to match the knobs!).

Here's a pic of m' baby!

I also own an Epiphone Les Paul Studio. I took out the muddy Epi pickups and replaced them with 2 wire a Gibson Burstbucker 2 and 3. These pickups are very hot, so it's my go to for heavy playing. I also replaced the bridge with gold hardware, and the tuning machines with gold Grover Mini's. The pickguard and pickup switch badge were replaced because I liked the look. Knobs are original, but I think I may change them.

Here's a pic

I don't mean to sound like a guitar snob, but I can't stand people that say Epiphones are just as good as real Gibsons. They really are not unless you start getting into their Elitist series---and by the time you're spending that much you might as well get a real Gibson.
