A few years back my Aunt had a friend who was able to get me a media pass for the New York Rangers locker room.

I met Brian Leetch, Adam Graves, Alexi Kovalev, Mike Richter, and others.

When I used to work at the Science Center we'd have a lot of private parties for the Steelers, Pirates, and the Penguins. We had one at the beginning of December (that I went back and worked heh) that saw the likes of Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin, Marc-Andre Fleury, etc. Mario Lemieux was there as well. Other ones I've worked after the Steelers won the Super Bowl last year which featured Ben Roethlisberger, Jerome Bettis, Hines Ward, etc.

They're usually real nice too and will glady take pictures with us / give us autographs. I guess it's part of the perks of working for a non-profit cultural organization.

I've played golf and had dinner with Russ and Geoff Courtnall (both ex-NHL players), and I've met Steve Nash but didn't get a chance to really talk to him.

I've met many, but probably the coolest experience was selling light bulbs to Johnny Cash when I worked at Ace Hardware about 20 years ago. Super nice guy, talked with me for about 10 or 15 minutes about a number of things. And yes, he was dressed all in black.

One of my best friends in high school is Richard Sterbin's son (Sterbin is the bass singer for the Oak Ridge Boys), so I spent many an afternoon at their house. Most of the others have just been encounters and not that meaningful.

I almost met Gretzky when I was a kid. Me and my buddy spotted him in a box at a kings game (he wasn't playing) and tried to get his autograph as he was leaving but he ignored us :(.

I lived across the hall from Napoleon Kaufman in my college dorm. He used to walk around naked occasionally. Not so friendly.

Scottie Pippen showed me where the running shoes were in Niketown in Portland OR about 5 1/2 years ago.

I got to meet Sonny Chiba when I was living in Japan

Did a volunteer concert security thing when I was in the military, and got to hang out with James Hetfield for about 10 minutes or so.

I also met Ted Nugent in the Cabelas store in Boise ID

Sam Elliot used to own a ranch right next door to my grandfathers property in La Pine, OR. He used to let me fish on his land (little descutes river runs through his ranch).

I met Cedric the Entertainer at Tavern on the Green. I felt like saying to him "Ain't you Big Poppa?!" .

EDIT: That is a line from one of his routines in "The Original Kings of Comedy".

I saw Dennis Rodman in Las Vegas last year. It was late night around 3 A.M, and he walked thru the front door of Caesars palace. I proceeded to point him out and yell his name so a small crowd would gather around him.

He gave me the stare of death. Needless to say, I felt very good about my accomplishment.

Drank with Sean Salisbury of ESPN NFL analyst fame at the Bellagio in in Vegas in 2002. I just sat down at the bar to order a drink and happened to sit next to him by accident. We talked for about an hour before I went back to the tables to play craps. :)

Super nice guy. Funny as hell.

Although bumping into 6 Patriots' cheerleeders here in Iraq was nice!

I was at work yesterday, and as I walked past the counter, I saw an AmEx black card.

I thought it was an ad or something at first, but as I strolled past I noticed the name on it was Roberto Bonilla.

It kind of made sense. The guy I met was crazy nice and I thought he looked familiar for some reason but I couldn't put my finger on it until I saw the card.

Turns out it was in fact Bobby Bonilla. Having grown up playing baseball, hearing about him and Bonds destroying on the Pirates, and him eventually winning the series on the Marlins, I have to admit I was a little star struck.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bobby_Bonilla

Anyways he a geat guy, extremely nice, very personable.

The only other person I met that I can say that is close to being a celebrity, was when I spend 2 days getting drunk with High Pitch Eric.

He's just huge, and disgusting. But he didn't mind saying "Hiiii, I'm Kelly Clarkson!"

Anyone ever run into any celebrities? Who were they and what were your "real life" impressions?

LOL.. When I clicked on the thread, I was thinking 'The only celebrity I actually sat down with was Bobby Bonilla.' And, the guy you saw was Bobby Bonilla.. soo funny.

I saw him during the 'height' of his career when he just signed for the Pirates and was making mucho $$$.. I was like 10 or 11.. He met about 5 of us from my church (pre-arranged) at an ice cream shop. I brought about 10 baseball cards of him and he signed them all. I still have them somewhere.

Oh ya.. Orlando Merced (played on the Pirates also) was my next door neighbor for a summer. Though, he wasn't near as nice as Bobby..
