So I may have just found out that I've been almost deaf

Dude, that sucks. I have something with my ears, too, but not as bad as you. Sometimes, out of nowhere, I hear a loud, high-pitched tone that drives me insane. I can't cope with it.

It's called tinnitus. Some people have it permanently, must suck more than Paris Hilton, in both senses.

Really? I didn't know. Is it treatable? I have it 2~3 times a week. For short periods of time.

Not that I know of, but I know little about the subject. It's not a physical issue with the ear, but something to do with the nerve that passes the data to the brain or the brain itself IIRC. Defo go and see a doctor about it!

it sucks to be going deaf, when I first read this, I thought it was a parody of the driver's license thread. good luck to ya mate!

I need some of that spray!

WHAT?

Ex jet mechanic, too many rock and roll shows, VERY VERY small ear canals = I can't hear sh!t....

What!?

Nice. My hearing has sucked since I was a kid but I've never gotten around to getting hearing aids. I have about 30-50% loss in some frequency ranges and finally ordered some hearing aids a few weeks ago. I can't wait to see what kind of difference this will make...

i have something like that. i have problems understanding most people. i'm not sure if i can't comprehend what someone is saying or if i just don't catch it or what. i wonder if i should get that looked at 😕

i don't do that to everyone. of course then again sometimes when i speak i slur all my words together unknowingly. my parents are always saying "what?" like they didn't catch what i said.

Sometimes stress can cause it. Usually it is a constant buzzing that you don't notice when there's a lot of noise but when it's quiet like in the middle of the night you notice it. Or it may come and go, but that might be caused by other problems (ie ear infection or something).

haha this is like when i found out ive been having temporal lobe seizures (i.e. not the violent kind) for 8 years...

But I agree, stuff like this sounds retarded, but when it's happening to YOU, people just tend to think it's normal.

I get massive wax buildup fast in my ears. Had the doc clean them out about 6 months ago, and I too felt like superman. Need to go back, damn wax takes over too fast!

there are the wax pickers, and q-tips. but being vacuumed by a doctor does the best. ive gotten it once, and it was like damn.. why is everything so loud

I still want to figure out what someone was referring to in another thread when they said Waterpik made a product that washes out your ears. Q-tips just don't do it for me anymore. I want a fresh, clean feeling.
