when did it become commonplace for parents to pick up their little precious artists after school?

its a artsy fartsy high school for the arts...but it turns my street into grand central station every single day. Why can't they hop on the cities transit system..its right there in front of the school? I literally am locked into my apartment from 3-4 pm everyday...worst part is...i'm not seeing any hot chicks thru all this bullshit.

what school?

there has been countless teen movies over the decades depicting kids being dropped off or picked up from high school. Most of the time the kids were embarrassed or something.

I live near a school too, and it's same deal. It's amazing the amount of energy and resources that go into a single day, and this is repeated every single day. All those SUVs and pickup trucks idling etc. It's like a huge production. I avoid any kind of possibility of having to drive on my street between 3:00 and 3:30.

That's ridiculous for high school. By the time I hit junior high, my mom would have laughed in my face if I asked for a ride to school (and we lived a couple miles away).

My daughter's in 4th grade so she gets dropped off. But only because we're just outside the bussing zone and she'd have to cross multiple intersections to walk there. When she hits junior high it's walk or bike.

My wife (or our carpool to be more exact) picks up our kids every day after school. WTF is wrong with that?

you live near a school and talking about growing weed? I'm pretty sure in states where weed is legal there are severe penalties in drug free school zones

And that should be challenged in the courts then, no reason to place restriction on weed sales that aren't in place for alcohol/tobacco imo

My son rides his bike to school some days. Helps cut down on the traffic for sure. He just started 9th grade this fall.

My son is a cop in your town. He told me to tell you to trade in your windowless white van. They're on to you.

Creepy or not, he's not wrong. I drove a school bus for a few years, and the lengths parents will go to avoid having their child walk even fifty yards (regardless of age) are simply retarded. They'll be sitting in gridlock around the school and will try to muscle in on a school bus. They'll wait an hour to get in and spend another hour trying to get out of the school's neighborhood. There is no limit to their stupidity.
We have a neighbor that drives her snowflake 1 block to the bus stop and sits there with the snowflake in the car until the high school bus pulls up and turns on the flashers.
