i called them this morning and they said they will have to wait for the night crew to come in to know where they put it. today is christmas and they will not be open tonight. should i worry? merry christmas btw.

i am thinking of calling back and demand to speak with the manager to somehow force him/her to retrieve it for me. or i report that it was stolen at the restaurant... maybe that's too extreme.

Just report it missing and move on. You don't know who could have copied your number down.

WTF. Just call your card company, tell them what happened and have them cancel the card. What's the big deal?

Amex has always overnighted a new card to me for free whenever i've had an issue (cracked card, etc).

If they're not open, how are you going to speak to the manager? If you can't wait, then call and cancel it.
