Yeah, why? I wanted something maintenance-free for a few years. All I have to do is pay gas, they cover everything else![]()

No, but thanks for playing.
I just don't understand the "auto transmissions are teh gay" sentiments that are prevalent here. Then again, with all the flamewars that pop up over other petty crap, I guess I really shouldn't be surprised.![]()

I'm sorry. but that is one of the most stupid comments anyone could ever make about an automobile

Straight male. She doesn't like stick. Auto = easy, lease = easy ++

its ok man...sometimes you just need a lower monthly payment....36 month lease is usually the sweet spot for a lease because its paying the depreciation of the vehicle...ENJOY THE RIDE...and save some extra money to buy your next vehicle.
congrats

the problems with leasing are three-fold
first is that you can't even guesstimate a lease payment by yourself. a buy payment you can roughly figure. a lease payment, you can negotiate for 2 hours to get the price down and everything set up like you want it, and when they come back to you with your lease payment you don't realize that they charged you MSRP, stole your rebate, and lowballed your trade. only way to protect yourself against that is to use leasing software. also, you usually don't get as low interest rates on a lease as a buy.
the second problem is that, if you couldn't afford to buy it, you can't afford to lease it either. i hear these ads on radio claiming that you save 40% of the cost of a buy. thing is, with a buy you end up with a car after 3 years. with a lease you end up with nothing. so, assuming they didn't screw you up front by charging you MSRP and lowballing you, and you got the same interest rate you could have on a buy, then the only thing you saved is whatever interest you got on the money that you could have put to a buy. since most people don't save this money, but use it to live beyond their means, then they're worse off.
lastly, getting rid of a car every 3 years doesn't make much financial sense. cars are generally maintenance free for a good 6 or 7 years. they also take most of their depreciation in the first 2 years. so, if you really wanted to minimize the money spent on a car, you'd look for one 2 years old and sell it at about 6. getting rid of one every three years means you take the hit on the value, but don't realize the whole maintenance-free period of the car.

Seriously when someone says they want something maint free for a couple years and waste all this money it about makes me sick.
Why not just buy a slightly used honda/toyota. I have seriously had great experience with these. No car payment and great mileage.
