Unbreakable is not one of the greatest, but its a decent film. Consider the fact that you have two pretty darn good veteran actors....

Fixed. Seriously, M. Night is the most over-hyped director. Evar.

I think he does a good job doing non-traditional movies. It's nice to have a change from the same old plots. I think half of the movies in Hollywood are based on the original Star Wars and Indiana Jones movies. Same stuff, different people/places/time.

If, by non-traditional, you mean all his movies have at least one excruciatingly stupid twist and a crappy ending then you're right. He does a great job at that.

I think Unbreakable had kind of a crappy ending, but I really liked the Sixth Sense's ending. By non-traditional I mean there's a lot more symbolism, subtlety, and thinking involved, rather than a giggly action flick.

Yeah. Bruce Willis seems to be withdrawing more and more in every movie. He kind of reminds me of Nicholas Cage...same character in every movie. It works in some movies, in others, it doesn't. I'm not saying it didn't work in this movie, but I noticed that he's getting more the same and more quiet.

Sixth Sense was a good movie though.

THat about sums it up for me too.

I actually thought this was his most interesting movie. IMO he has benefitted from tremendous over-hype, and even the movie most people think is his best (Sixth Sense) is just a 3-star effort IMO. I thought Signs was awful and haven't yet seen The Village. I found Unbreakable haunting and fascinating, though.

unbreakable is actually my favorite movie from him.

I really really liked the style. I'm not much of a suspence/scary movie type of watcher. I actually don't like those kind of movies since I get startled VERY easily during movies.

unbreakable was very unique and I liked it.

one thing that got me about his superhero bit in the house...he was touching everything. they could have lifted his prints off doorhandles, for example. not a good thing if a rescue went sour...he could have gotten blamed.

I like most movies and don't try to judge them critically. Sooo... liked the movie.

I actually can't really think of a movie that I actually hated. I usually get something out of every movie.

It was...interesting. I like M. Night Shyamalan movies in general (Sixth Sense, The Village, etc.), but I have mixed feelings about this one. The movie felt like it kept building and building, but then suddenly just ended. It never really went anywhere. I liked the symbolism in the Sixth Sense more. Samuel L. Jackson had a funky wardrobe in the movie, too. I thought the audio was really good...I think that's what made the movie more personal, you could hear everything from the rustling of clothes to the orange juice glass filling up. I'd say it's worth a watch if you have a free evening :)

Care to discuss?

the story went plenty of places, watch it again

Shyamalan's running out of ideas. Pretty soon his movies won't be fit to go direct to video.

ah! someone else like me! most people I know go to movies and say they love it or hate it or whatever. I just go to watch a movie and enjoy it. There's something in every movie, even if it is a "bad" one. A lot of people say "I want my nine bucks and two hours of my life back." I can't think of a movie I really hate either.

I like his work quite a bit, though I haven't seen the village. The ending of signs was pretty bad, but who cares. The reason his movies are good is because he actually knows how to build suspense and fear, or mystery. If other horror / suspense films of recent times could do this, then the genres wouldn't be so damn awful (horror films are by far the worst genre of film right now).

Because of his superior suspense building direction / writing, I will forgive the inane similarities in all of his films and the crappy endings.

the movie sucked. it went no where, and it was boring. the highlight of the movie was when the kid wanted to shoot willis. other than that, it was a snore.

my thought on m. night films is that he peaked at sixth sense, and started declining after that with each movie getting progressively worse.
