I tried out my Fusion free sample the other day too, best shave I ever got. Still debating with myself if I want to spend the 20 bucks on refills.

BAH.
I shave and shave a lot. I can grow my beard at a #2 on a clipper in 8 days. I own a $160 electric braun shaver, i use to only use the mach 3 turbo, and now i have the fusion power. I use a shaving cream in a tube they sell at Trader Joes none of that crappy stuff in a can (including the fusion line) so i spend lots of money on shaving. That being said...
I don't know how you think it is so much better over the mach 3. I still have both and use both but for the most part like the mach 3 better. They themselves do not claim the fusion shaves any better or closer than the mach 3 just that with more blades there is less pressure on each specific blade therefor should cause less irriation. They both work great but the mach 3 with its smaller head is way easier to control, get corners, and like me where i now have a beard thing going on and only shave below my cheeks and the 1" at the bottom of my throat, the mach 3 can handle all those better while the fusion with its big head i can barely swipe. I love the single blade on the back of the fusion though, i use it to get the bottom of my nose above the mustache

I have a 3 and a Fusion and the Fusion causes much less irritation for me. I don't shave often though, but when I do, I'll stick with my fusion. With the 3 I get razor burn and pain for a couple for hours. The Fusion has almost no burn at all.

I used Mach 3 for years, but I finally tried the Fusion and will never go back. I found the Fusion to be smoother on my face and require fewer strokes in general. I don't understand the comments about it feeling worse -- maybe there's a technique issue?

Anyway, the huge thing that has sold me on the Fusion is that I started using it at the beginning of December and have just started using my third set of blades. So, over ONE MONTH per head?? Sold! I used to go through the Mach 3 ones about every 2 weeks at most so even though the Fusion blades cost more, the savings is huge with Fusion. And, yes, I shave every day.

It must be a matter of how fine our respective hair is, or something (mine is rather coarse), but I find the Fusion is ineffective and painful, plus the blades become unusable after only a few shaves. If I tried to stick with the Fusion (which would be insanity on my part), my blade budget would require a second mortgage.

Mine is rather coarse as well. What I have found so far is that there seems to be a point where the Fusion blades do hurt a little bit (relatively speaking) within a few days of starting a new blade. After one or two days of that, there's no more pain and then it's fine for several weeks. Maybe you have to be a little obstinate like me to find their worth. ;)

Hmm - I think you have a higher level of tenacity than me. When I can buy Sensor blades for 1/6 the price and get a vastly better shave, I'm not really interested in exploring the boundaries of my pain threshold to use a razor that I find so kludgy and ineffective.

What's ironic is that before I saw this thread I was vaguely planning to start my own thread to say how crappy the Fusion is. Obviously everyone's different, though, and what sucks for me obviously works well for you, so que sera, sera.

I bought a Fusion pack from Costco for $20. Came with the gel, the razor and a thing of cartridges.

I felt like that SOB was PULLING the hairs out of my face. I didn't even finish my shave with it. I chucked it back in the bag and it went back to Costco and we got our $ back.

Mach 3 FTW.

I have the fusion, don't like it too much, I still shave with it atm, but when I'm done with the blades I'm going to probably switch back to some iteration of the Mach 3

I just dropped $49 shipped on 48 Quattro Titanium blades on ebay. ;)

They're probably fake, non-sterile, and likely piss poor quality.

Shhh!

Must keep the people hooked on expensive cartridge razors. A representative of Gillette will appear at your house shortly.

Seriously, I just made the switch last year (though I'm using a $80 Merkur). Amazing how 100 year old tech can be truly superior. But it does take some skill, and I can't just push the blade into my face and swipe away like I did with Gillette. So much less irritation though.

I was wondering what the Gillette company will come up with next, because I can't see a ten-bladed razor even from them. then I came up with this:

"Now - lubricating strip complete with Stem Cells! Heals any nicks in minutes and gives you Baby Smooth (tm) skin!"

Maybe I should patent it?

Just to let you know these blades are counterfeit. If some things are too good to be true they probably are. PM me or post here if you think otherwise

7-8 minutes to shave? I use a Shick Quattro and shave my whole face in under 1 minute.

you must have a baby face with little to no hair.
if i don't count the time it takes to trim my beard, just shaving under my cheeks and the 1" at the bottom of my neck takes 5 mins. wash, shaving cream application, shave down with the grain, wet face and work remaining lather back in, shave up with the grain, dry, use electric to get corners and things

WTH? I've been shaving for something like 20 years and have thick hair. I've never taken more than maybe 3 minutes to shave.

I've had a free Fusion sitting in my medicine cabinet for months. And after reading this thread I don't know that I'll even try it. I've been using a M3 since it came out and have no complaints other than the blades not lasting very long.

FWIW, it takes me less than 3 minutes to shave but I only shave with the grain and never against unless I'm going to a formal event.

I tried the fusion, I got the powered version for 6 bucks. Needless to say, I'm sticking with the Schick Quattro. I'm not paying 4 bucks per razor head. No way.

So yeah, i picked up some Shick Extreme 3 throw away razors instead of my usual Mach 3 blades. BIG MISTAKE. These things SUCK. I thought, hey, three blades, cheaper, how bad could it be? It's bad. I cut myself numerous times, which never happens except with a really dull Mach 3 and it pulled my hairs much more than any time using the Mach 3. Needless to say, i'll be going back to the Mach 3 again. Now i have 21 of these damn things...but i probably won't be able to use each one more that twice (i have very coarse hair on my face).
