I was wondering what the Gillette company will come up with next, because I can't see a ten-bladed razor even from them. then I came up with this:

Did you know that Gillette was a communist who wanted to come up with a product he could sell to people, they use it once, then they go back to him to buy another.

Yeah. It's true. I don't have a problem with him become a Commie Pinko, my problem is he was a commie pinko who made millions doing something the Communists despise. Making money by screwing the people.

Mine is rather coarse as well. What I have found so far is that there seems to be a point where the Fusion blades do hurt a little bit (relatively speaking) within a few days of starting a new blade. After one or two days of that, there's no more pain and then it's fine for several weeks. Maybe you have to be a little obstinate like me to find their worth. ;)

Hmm - I think you have a higher level of tenacity than me. When I can buy Sensor blades for 1/6 the price and get a vastly better shave, I'm not really interested in exploring the boundaries of my pain threshold to use a razor that I find so kludgy and ineffective.

What's ironic is that before I saw this thread I was vaguely planning to start my own thread to say how crappy the Fusion is. Obviously everyone's different, though, and what sucks for me obviously works well for you, so que sera, sera.

I am frankly quite surprised by this thread because I have found the Fusion to be so effective for me, outlasting the Mach 3 by at least double. I've found it to be more effective, not less, and I've not had any troubles with it clogging quickly. Maybe it's because I shave in the shower and rinse the blades frequently -- I'm not sure.

Well, I'm happy with it, and it works for my beard. Hopefully everyone can find something equally as useful for themselves!

I cut myself numerous times, which never happens except with a really dull Mach 3 and it pulled my hairs much more than any time using the Mach 3. Needless to say, i'll be going back to the Mach 3 again. Now i have 21 of these damn things...but i probably won't be able to use each one more that twice (i have very coarse hair on my face).

QFT...I did the same thing. Thankfully I've only got like 6 of these things to go through...ugh Mach 3 FTW!

I guess it's just one of those highly individual things. As it happens I also shave in the shower. FWIW I don't love Mach 3s either - I prefer the two-blade Sensor, which seems to be the most effective, easiest to clean, and longest lasting. I prefer the original Sensor blades to the Sensor Excels, which include a rubber strip that I guess is supposed to help stretch out your skin to help get a closer shave, but which just causes irritation for me. The fact that Sensor blades are relatively inexpensive is just serendipitous to me. As far as I'm concerned every "advance" in shaving in the last 10-15 years is sheer marketing. I'm sure there's no reason Gillette couldn't have made a five-blade razor in the '80s - they just hadn't developed such a comprehensive level of shamelessness in those days.
