Frankly I can't believe the state of Texas thinks I'm competent enough to legally carry a handgun.

Can't hit anything, shake constantly. Scary to think how many people out there like me have CCW permits.

so 1 round/min? fast shootin' pardner.

I use speed mag loaders. They're almost a necessity on the 220, since the mag springs are so tight.

Do you ever dry fire practice at home? Aim at a spot on the wall, and pull the trigger while you make sure you don't move the sights off the target. This will smooth out how you work the trigger and you will show impovements at the range.

There are other things you should look at. Do some searching on the proper shooting stance and grips. Read about how you are supposed to focus on the front sight and not the target.

When I first started shooting, I was all over the target, but after working on my grip, stance, and dry firing practice, I improved a lot. This was over about 4 trips to the shooting range and 800 rounds.

Takes a lot of practice to hit anything with a handgun. When I first got into it I bought a good pellet pistol (nice authentic Walther p99 replica) and set up a little range in my garage - that helped a lot and saved me a fortune in range fees/ammo. After a year of that and many trips to the range I went from barely getting 6 rounds on a silhouette target at 7 yards to shooting fairly consistant 6" groups at 25 yards - not exceptional, but pretty good.

It is indeed scary that so many people who own guns never attempt to use them until the SHTF, and end up spraying the neighborhood with stray rounds.

You've got great taste in pistols, BTW.

Uhhh, I thought dethman was being sarcastic. Shooting very slowly and purposefully, I empty the 10 rd mag on my Sig in a couple minutes.

PS I don't use a speed loader for my P226. :p

Maybe you have the wrong gun for you. I always shot better with a 22 than a 44 or a 45 or some dual action 357. I could lay about 80 out of 100 rounds in a 8 or 9 circle on the circle target at 50 yards. Might be you should ask other people to let you try their weapon.

I'm almost always more accurate with a .22 also, but personally I try to practice the most with the guns I actually use for defense - in my case a Sig 226 and 220.
