So, I just realized that SG1 & SGA are on NetFlix Streaming

Not sure how long they've been there. Kinda makes me regret buying SG1 S1-S8 on DVD. But only slightly.

When are all the Star Trek episodes going to drop?

It's been there for a few months now, the movies are up as well.

I think ST was supposed to be during the summer, June maybe?

I seem to remember that the movies have been up there for at least 2 years, Atlantis must have been up at least about a year. We watched through them a while ago.

Man, Amanda Tapping looks so young in those early seasons.

I think she is hottest around Season 3 to 4 to be honest.

Also, been watching them...alot. Fantastic series. Also, B5 is up with the entire series. Revisiting the Shadow War is AWESOME!

ugh... B5 ruined my life when i discovered it last summer during summer school.

Ha - I remember when I re-watched the series. Good times but I did find myself thinking 'Just one more episode' a lot

Not to mention the acting was pretty bad to start off with. They also dropped that whole being near frozen when exiting the stargate thing pretty quickly 🙂

The near frozen thing was supposed to be the Earth stargate computer DHD not accounting for stellar drift enough, and so the Frozen effect was just a side effect of the stargate making a bad connection.

They fixed it with better algorithms

I have figured that one out. When they first traveled to Abydos they had yet to compensate for stellar drift. In fact, Abydos was the only gate they could get to because it was the closest.
Once they reprogrammed the earth gate for stellar drift they no longer suffered the extreme cold.

If you like that one, I have one for the Ancients.
Why were the Ancients defeated by the Wraith? How come these super duper intelligent and powerful people were such morons when some of them were found and returned to Atlantis and their arrogance led to the Replicators wiping them out in just a few weeks?
Because the really intelligent and advanced Ancients ascended. Leaving the rest to the mercy of Darwin.

Eh,you beat me to it. Though I don't remember that actually being explained on the show, but being thought up by fans.

Wasn't worth fighting. They won every single battle of the war, but it would never end so they just gave up.

Also, having the power to manipulate space and time with having access to almost unlimited amounts of power tends to turn people into arrogant over-confident douches.

If have never seen SGA, may I suggest you watch it in reverse order?

If you do, then a group of humans returns the city of Atlantis and manages to put the entire Wraith species to sleep and then sinks the fabulous city of Atlantis to the bottom of the ocean where it will wait for a worthwhile species to find it.

A quick google makes it seem like it was explained in one of the episodes. I must have missed that part or they glossed over the effects pretty quickly

All Star Trek series will be on Netflix instant streaming starting from July 1st this year except for DS9 (October 1st)

Yay!

Ha!

They won a lot of them (most) but I don't think it was all, especially once the Wraith captured some of their ships and got their hands on a few ZPMs they started losing the war of attrition and were forced back to Atlantis

What order would you suggest these be watched in?

I just noticed the other day that netflix added a bunch of TV Series' to their stream list including a few stargate series. I haven't watched any of them. was considering starting SG1 last night but did not.

You should definitely start with SG1. However, the first couple of seasons had some truly awful episodes. You can pretty much skip Broca Divide, Cor-Ai, Fire and Water, The First Commandment and Emancipation from season 1 and not miss anything out of the larger arc.
And you will still get to hear Carter defending her "lady parts".....

This thread makes me miss the glory days of SG-1 (esp. with Jack O'neill), SGA and BSG all in the same night 🙁

As far as order, start with SG-1 (and maybe the original feature movie, if you haven't watched that yet) and don't start watching SG-A until you're done with SG-1 8x02. After that the timeline is the same and somewhat parallel SG-1 s8 with SG-A s1, SG-1 s9 with SG-A s2, SG-1 s10 with SG-A s3, and then finish up SG-A season 3 through 5.

Of course it's always safe to just finish-up SG-1 first and then continue on to SG-A, although after 8x02 I think it's a good idea to just watch SG-A Pilot to know what's going on there.

Oh yeah, as soon as you're done with SG-1, while you're finishing up SG-A you can take a break and enjoy the two feature SG-1 movies, Ark of Truth and Continuum. These two will wrap-up the two major storylines that were not completed at the end of season 10.

After you're done with SG-1 and SG-A, then start with SG-U. Beware though, after 15 seasons of Stargate this one will feel like a different show altogether. Some people really hated SG-U season 1, even stopped watching after the first few episodes. However it does get much better in season 2, although unfortunately two seasons are all this show will get. A couple of more weeks until the series ends.

If you really want to watch this show, my advice is: be patient. It is 17 seasons of shows so unless all you do is watch this show 10 hours/day - 7 days/week, this project will take some serious time. I completed almost everything above (still have some odd episodes here and there that I skipped) in a little more than a year 😀
