Honestly, I was mistaken on the band name. I was thinking of another band who's song I heard on the radio. (which I now forget) :(

How I purchased it last friday:
Pre-ordered via a major online retailer.
That retailer schedules shipments to arrive that day given two day UPS
To make the two buisness day delivery time, they needed to ship it Friday.
I chose USPS shipping.
It takes less than 24 hours to go the 40 miles from thier distribution center to my house.
USPS delivers on Saturday :)

Net result:
NIN album is alright, there's a few songs I really like, and a bunch that aren't bad. No songs that I'd say suck.
Good Charlotte, well, I haven't listened to a complete song from it yet. Maybe one day I will.

No, these have CD on one side, DVD on the other. Maybe I'll pull my Plextor 40TSI out of retirement to see how it treats them.

Just DVD, or DVD-Audio?

I believe it's DVD. I haven't tried it out yet. The idea is that one side would have the full surround sound and all that jazz while the otherside works in *most* players.

DVD audio? AWESOME

NIN rules. I'm def picking this one up.

Music just sucks these days, thank god we get the occasional gift from the music industry like a NIN release. Hes a little brooding, but you cant lose your hardcore crew of kids like those from the "goth kids" from southpark ;)
Someone has the be the sheeps leader, if they dont have religon they gotta follow something/one to worship.

Might as well be trent reznor.

And to the OP, you = retard, as well. I have the Crossfade "Crossfade" Dual-Disc and it works fine. Could it be perhaps that you shouldn't be on a computer, or simply that your speakers and/or DVD drive just suck ass?

EDIT: Oh yeah, try flipping the disc over sherlock?

Did your e-penis just grow two inches? I bet all your school friends think youre really cool now.

Back on topic. The new NIN album is really good. It's not their best but it's better than 98% of the music out there right now.

So have any of you that have these dual-discs been able to play the cd side in a computer? The dvd side plays fine, but the cd side goes unrecognized....

Um, me?

I buy the good stuff like this that deserves buying.

Seriously if you buy the good records only, like NIN releases what are you out financially? Not much. And you are sending a message to the record industry that we rip off music is because theres too much crap geared towards 13yr old girls.

But then again, from the tone of a few of your posts.. you'll never buy cds. And are likely in the basement of your parents house.

I got the NIN Dual Disc and I was able to rip the CD side to FLAC using my laptop cd/dvd drive. It also played the DVD side fine, but I don't know if it is DVD-Audio or just 5.1 mix (what's the difference anyway?)

Now I need to figure out how to rip the 5.1 DVD side to my computer. :music::cool:

AFAIK, DVD-A can only be played on DVD-A players, which (because the music industry are a bunch of asses) will only output audio through discrete 5.1 outputs (the idea being that will make it harder to pirate). Meaning the 5.1 outputs from your DVD-A player plug into 5.1 jacks on your receiver, instead of using an optical or coaxial cable like DTS.

Notice how most new CDs being released don't featured the "CD-ROM" logo? That's because they don't meet the book standards for compact discs. If you haven't already, it's definitely time to start boycotting these idiotic record companies.

Will Best Buy and their ilk allow you to return one of those CDs after you've opened it and found that it won't play in anything you own?

indeed, seriously who buys cds
Me.

I may not agree with the inflated prices, but I like to support the bands I enjoy.
If you want to support a band, go to their shows. Most artists only get between 5-10% of record sales. The RIAA is able to do this because they control radio & tv - sign with them or nobody will hear your stuff. I buy CDs as well, but to have a lossless backup copy of my music, not because I think most bands give a crap. However, I haven't bought anything in a while, and if they've recently started trying to implement illegal copy protection, I'll have to stop buying them.

Thats a better idea. They prob get almost all of the money from shows, after paying their crew, venue fees ect.

Live music is the best anyway.
But I only like rock live (even this industrial stuff I dont dig as much as the true rock live)

Heck, I'll even go see some old band like .38 Special live before I go see some new act that is digital sounding.. thats me tho.

I like it from real instruments (drums/guitar ect) live, rather than some DAC tape.
NIN is close enough to real music tho to go see, I bet they put on a good show.

Guns n roses sure did!

1. Good Charlotte sucks ass
2. Again, I have a dual-disc that works just fine in both of my drives (Pioneer DVR-108 and Samsung SM-352BK) and ripped just fine with EAC.

CDs i buy have little or nothing to do with RIAA.
